Is there anyone that would be interested in a new forum labeled:

Miscalleaneous RC Aircraft

This would cover:

Airships
Blimps
LTA
UAV
VTOL
Ground Efect Vehicles
Hovercaft

and anything else that does not totally depend on wings or rotors for flight.

Please post your responses as this is what it will take to get it created, as there is not really a niche for it other than the Clubhouse.

Although I have nothing to add to it at this point, I think it would be a great idea to have a place to learn about those things.

What is a "ground effect vehicle?" Are my planes ground effect vehicles? The ground sure does effect them when I hit it! I have a feeling that's not what you meant. Right?

Ya but it never flew as it was used to haul troops and such, or was suppose to and it was dog butt ugly. I believe the top speed was around 300 MPH, could be wrong though!

Do you think it would be more popular than the submarine forum?

Basin,

I would hope it would be more active than submarines......hell I didn't even know we had one...I have boats turned off.

Most modelers I know have an interest in "strange" aircraft, and probably would like to build a model of one at some time. I have a Project that has been ongoing now for 2 years, it is of a Daimler-Benz Project C aircraft that never was actually built, but I have completed the plans and have started construction, 6 engine, 4 pulling and 2 pushing, and it carried 7 "parasite" planes under the wings. If you want to see some strange aircraft with wings, try this site: http://www.luft46.com/

As for the new forum.....I really think it would have a place, as there are some really strange designs floating around, I have built several airships, and they are a hoot....also done a bunch of research on VTOL aircraft, and there really isn't a home for those types. Problem with posting that kind of stuff in the Clubhouse is it usually gets "buried" behind the many post concerning "Frequency Control" and all of the damn polls that don't justify anything.......That would be like asking a TRUE question about the AMA in the AMA forum, I somehow feel that it would get lost....JMO

Another strange one: http://www.geobat.com/info.html

I always wanted to learn more about 1/4 scale, gas turbine powered, blimp racing.

Seriously, I have seen some talk in the design forums about trying to get designs, that were never built, and see if they were actually able to fly through scaled down replicas. It must be quite a challange.

Also, this UAV thing is getting big. Everything from fly powered pencils to lids cut off a tunafish cans to miniture gas trubine powered, gps controlled digital camers in the air. Could be interesting.

Tin and Loon,

Haven't forgotten you guys on the plans.....this has been a particularily "different" week......you should have mail this afternoon.

On the forum thing, admin is looking for the number of people that may be interested...probably more than 10, before they will make it a forum.......so speak up..as I certainly do NOT want to do another damn poll on anything......!

I feel like I lost an hour rather than gained one.............
