Does anyone have any experinece mixing fuel for one of these engines (MVVS 91). I hear that low or no nitro is ok. Could someone recommend a mix, I was thinking about a 20% castor mix??????

I do not use the mvvs 91 but run the mvvs 40 with own fuel mix -- first i mix the 80/20 fuel and then add in some nitromethane. I run only 3% nitro just for better low end and smoother transition. The engine is very happy . I use os #8 plugs.
Another friend of mine using mvvs 49 with 80/20 fuel mix and it flies just fine.

I've never used anything but a 20% castor mix in all my engines...nitro just isn't a necessary ingredient. The other good point about 20% is it's easy to figure out how much of each to use. Four cups of methanol..one cup of oil...shaken but not stirred

Thanks for replying, I was starting to think the question had slid away. Its good to see that an 80:20 castor mix is acceptable.

The reason I'm asking is I want lots of power so I'm torn between a YS91 and the MVVS91. Of course the YS likes 20% and it could get expensive feeding it. I think making 80:20 is pretty easy and inexpensive and would give plenty of power. I may start a thread in the engine area asking if anydody has experience running both of these engines.

I am considering the MVVS91 for a partially built and highly modified 4*60: clipped wing, 50% larger rudder, 25% larger elevator, cowl, pull-pull, etc..) Someone talked me out of my first modified 4*60, big mistake! She was very, very fun.
