Status: offline 		I* have my rear dif all apart. I know to put dif fluid in witht he spider gears but the case that has the ring and pinion was bone dry.
What is supposed to be in there? Does the ring and pinion run dry like the clutch bell and spur gear do?

Status: offline 		Yea they're meant to run dry. It wouldn't hurt to add a dab of diff grease or automotive grease here and there though.

Status: offline 		they shouldn't be completely dry.... like Aerobirdbrain said, add a little bit of Diff grease, like the stuff provided for a stealth tranny for a RC10gt or something.... just a little works great!!

Status: offline 		I think there's some kinda lube on those gears, theres got to be. A little bit works well, if you start stuffing alot on the ring and pinion it will restrict the free flow and cause premature wear on parts like the clutch shoes and so on!! Just a note its always a GOOD idea to have some kinda grease on steel to steel components, especialy on diff gears.

Status: offline 		my first thought was to add a little heavy oil( just enough for the ring gear to touch the surface and then seal it to the chassis.
But that may be too much resistance?
I'll find "just the right greese" and use "just the right ammount" LOL!

Status: offline 		Take a small zip-tie and put the grease ONLY on the end that DOES NOT have ridges (about 1/4 to 1/2'' from theend of the zip-tie). That is a good way to gauge how much grease to use for the whole gear.

Status: offline 		If you put grease on them, some of it is bound to eventually get into the clutch. And, the grit and stuff mixed w/ the grease will act like grinding compound and wear things out faster. That's why they don't grease tank and bulldozer tracks. (at least that's what I was told) Just outa curiosity, do any of you all grease your dog bones, or other external parts like that? I don't because I drive mostly on dusty concrete. Just wondering...
