It says on the the rear that its TC-W3Certified motor oil and exeeds NMMA highiest quality levels...Its a premium ashless oil formulated for injecting or pre-mixing with today's unleaded fuels...

You can get synthetic oil at any motorcycle/motorsports dealer that sells quads/dirtbikes/jetskis. They all stock many different brands of synthetic 2 stroke oils.

Now as for whether you need synthetic oil..... IMHO NO you don't HAVE to use synthetic oil. How many chainsaw engines run forever and a day at WOT on junk oil? So no, synthetic oil isnt "needed".
I have alot of different feels about synthetic oil. In certain applications (such as automobiles) it can add hp, and does allow you to go for a longer amount of time without changing your oil because it doesn't break down as quickly. BUT in certain other applications (2 strokes) i've never seen any dyno proof that shows that synthetic oil will give you more hp or make your engine last longer. From what i've read synthetic oil doesnt really add any durability to your motor than any other quality non synthetic oil. Rather it just doesnt break down as quickly. Now in an automobile that can help because your oil lubricates the engine over and over again for long periods of time, while in a 2 stroke it goes through the engine, lubricates it and is burned.

With that said i will state that i always use synthetic oils in my other toys (sportbike and quad) which are four strokes and i try to always use it in my marder for no other reason than the fact that it only costs a few bucks more than regular oil. I spent close to $1K on my marder, might as well spend $2 more on a quality oil.

For anyone who has the resources, i'd love to see a dyno test of synthetic and non synthetic oils to see the "differences". (same day, same tune, same motor, same mods of course)
Mike

wizen - on a side note, organic oil will cause the engine to run slightly cooler, while synthetic will cause it to run slightly cleaner. the primary benifit to synthetic oil is the prevention of carbonization of the internal lubed parts.

castrol GTX is probably a better oil to run than castrol syntec, however most will use syntec as it will drastically lower the amount of cleaning maintence required.
