I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a NIB Innovative Models Macci 202 is worth? My business partner bought it years ago and got out of the hobby and I don't care for the aircraft. I know that this might not be the forum to sell something like this, but I was curious what it might go for on the internet. And also, are retracts still available.

Thanks

ZP

Not to be a wise-a*& but it's worth what somebody is willing to pay. I didn't realize Innovative did box kits...I thought they only did plan sets with cowls and canopy's...what size? any assembly completed?

Hi ZP!

Do you know if this is the deluxe kit? The deluxe kits typically also included a cockpit kit and other accessories.

Regarding price, this is a bit subjective. The Innovative kits sold for upwards of $400 in their day, but they sometimes suffered from quality issues (i.e., polyester fuselages with rough seams, foam cores inaccurately cut, etc.). This wasn't always the case, but I have heard enough complaints that they are worth noting.

I have one of their FW190 A Deluxe kits that I purchased when Greg Namey was getting out of the kit business. At the time I believe I paid somewhere around $225 for the full kit.

I have always liked the Macchi. Do you have any pictures of the kit? What size is it? The FW190 I have is 1/6th scale.

For retracts, I would check with Century Jet, and/or having a set custom cut by Lenny Sarbin or Sierra Precision. (Lenny did a set for my FW190.)

Regards!

Paul

I have one ready for engine and was wondering what you powered yours with. I have a ZDZ 40 to shoe horn in mine but with the brittleness of the glass I'm wondering about if it can take the vibration? any thoughts?

Tempest RCU,

Its not a delux kit. Just a fiberglass fuse and wing cores with the plans and some wood parts etc. It has never been started. I think he will put it on ebay soon. Thanks all for the imput

I think your best bet is putting it on ebay like you're planning to do. You'll probably get somewhere between $200 and $300. As for you question about what it's worth, I'd say about $20. I'm half way through building the kit version and it is pure junk! I threw away everyting but the fiberglass fuselage, canopy, and vac formed tropical air filter. The fuselage is pretty bad but I decided I could salvage it faster than build one from scratch. I'm just using the canopy through test flying and then I'll make my own. For some reason, the tropical air filter is ok, though.

I picked up the Bob Holman laser cut short kit to build the wing from and it looks very nice. From what I've read on this site, the guy who did the CAD work for Bob Holman had to put a lot of time into correcting all the problems with the plan.

I'd sure like to see someone like Jerry Bates or Don Smith do a set of plans for this plane. It has a bigger following than most people realise and I think it would sell quite well.

Hi Veltro,

LOL I believe as you do about the worth if it. I'd much rather scratch build too. My partner bought this at the WRAM show many years ago. I can still remember the innovative booth. Its an interesting aircraft tho, I haven't seen any fly at any meets.

I guess he wants to sell it to the highest bidder, and ebay should be the way. All I can say is he never opened the box, so its like a journey back in time to the newest kit to hit the show

Regards

ZP
