It is powered by 2 ST 90's. It is my friends scratch built plane and can be seen at
WWW.SMASHRC.COM, I think it is the uravitch plans, but im not too sure.
I dont even want to think about an engine out situation.

Any thoughts.

34 lbs.? Is it built from solid oak with lots of metal filled epoxy? It may fly, but at 34 lbs., I think I would want to be sure and keep an eye on it the whole time so you can be sure it's never pointed directly as you!

He really went all out with it. It has retracts with doors, fully detailed cockpit, about 10 servos in all. Working nav lights and beacons.
If you go to the website and go to picture archive, you can see it.

I looked at it. It is very nice. But still, 34 lbs. is extremely heavy. I wouldn't recommend him trying to fly it for the first time on a hot humid day.

Is it this one?? He did a beautiful job on the scale details, but it is almost 20lbs heavier than the design weight. I have flown (an overweight) one that weighed 21lbs, but 34 lbs.....?

I wouldn't attempt it.

The good news is that you have a big constant chord wing. Will probably be fine...jsut heavy.

Can you say Hanger Queen?
Seriously, with this kinda weight I don't think it's worth trying.
Will it fly, probably if you have enuff runway, but the first
engine out situation or the first pilot mistake will probably be
the last.
It's pretty tho!
Good luck with it.
Jerry

Are you sure it's 34 pounds? I have a hard time imagining how you could make this plane weigh that much. Mine has 14 servos, two receivers, two battery packs, retracts, a fully sheeted wing, fiberglass covering, and a latex painted finish. Oh yeah, and 2 and 1/2 pounds nose weight. It weighs a little over 21 pounds. Two St 90's pull it well. I hope 34#s was just a guesstimate. Hope the first flight go's well.

Well, It flew, and LANDED!! He said he dialed in 15 degrees flaps and he took off about 300 feet. I had my doubts, but he pulled it off.
