Anyone know if the Razor 350 will bolt up to the GWS D drive? I want to put a razor on backorder so I see it sometime in my lifetime . However the plane I want it for is already set up for the D drive.

Thanks............Mark

Also, anyone know the best place to put one on backorder?

Hi Mark,

Do you mean like this?

Bishop Power Products is a good source for Razor motors. Although it is not listed, they do have the longer Razor 2500 in stock. Same diameter but more power with the longer rotor. Try e-mailing Troy at BPP.

Good luck!

Ifyou are a do it yourselfer - you can go to an auto parts place and select an O ring size which will make a very good snug fit of the motor to the GWS setup - I jst did it for my Hacker B20S-
I use 3O rings to make the fit very solid.
I really like the GWS mount and inexpensive gear setup - Now I don't worry about someone bashing the motor when trying my models .
If only GWS would make a harder shaft-- I guess I will have to make my own - I don't use the threaded portion so just the gear attachment is my only puzzle.
Iam considering a larger dia shaft -and bearing setup but the 3mm is soooo handy.

Thanks Greg, Is this phot of the 350 or 2500? Also, does it just bolt up from the front like the GWS can motor does?

Thanks Dick, did the gear from the GWS motor shart press onto the hacker or did you have to find another gear?
Great idea with the O rings!

The Razors will bolt right into the GWS box. The GWS pinion will fit right on the shaft, but you would be way better off buying a new pinion instead of pulling one off the GWS motor and re-using it. A new pinion will fit a lot tighter and you won't have to worry about it slipping or using Loctite.

If you are wanting a Razor 350 quickly, you might look at the Himax 2015 4100. It is very similar to the RZ350 Kv-wise, readily available, and $52. Bolts right into the GWS box, just like the Razor, same shaft size, etc. I have one on a GWS D gear drive and love it. And I have a couple of Razors as well, so I'm not anti-Razor, but it's a great little motor for the money.

I'm using the Razor 350 with the "C" drive and it's a ton of power in a 10.7oz Edge. What prop are you guys running with the most luck and how many amps are being pulled? I had to switch from the CC Pheonix 10 to the 25 as hovering shut-offs suck. Yea I know.. It pulls more than 10,but I thought I could keep my thumb off the gas.....Nope! BENDER P.S. I diden't know you flew electric stuff Chuck.

Hey Mark, Try Aero Micro they have the 350s in stock about every 3 days or so..

Hey Bender..I fly anything with wings or rotors!

The thing on these motors is..If you are running Lipos and drawing that many amps you are prolly hurting the packs. Try going to a D gear, or a smaller prop. If you are getting a cut off on a 12X6, try the 11X4.7. The way I try to explain it to guys is..it's like putting too much prop on a high power 2 stroke..it just gets hot and don't make power..let it rev up and it'll go great.

Tell us what batteries and stuff..I bet you can fine tune your set up to pull just about as hard, and get good flight times!!

I just ordered the Himax 2015-4100 last night from Todd's Models. I couldn't find a Razor anywhere but I'm sure the Himax will do just fine. I'm concerned a little as I ordered the Phoenix 10 speed control to save wieght so I hope I can avoid what bender has been seeing. I'm useing the D drive and also ordered a couple 11 X 4.7 props so hopefully I can prop it so I don't get the shut down.

Thanks for the info..........Mark

You'll be OK..we stuck the 12X6 on it last night and flew fine (I'm using the CC P10 as well) Didn't drain the whole pack, but didn't get LCV either.
