Thanks, Evan,
I'm probably going to make my own spinners. I'm doing the earlier version with the smaller, flattened spiners. I'm not sure, but will the Don Smith cowls work with the bigger spinners of the G model? The cowls of the G might have a different shape than the earlier ones.

I know you're thinking about making your own spinners with the flattened nose, but do you know that they are available from DS? I have a pair I bought.

If you're not too concerned about scale fidelity you can hang the antennas on the DS and call it a 'G' model, but Timoth4 is correct in that the geometry of the cowlings are different between the 'C~E' and the 'F~G' models.
This difference does translate to a visibly larger circumference of the cowl backplate of the 'F~G' model, neglecting the conical shape differences in the spinner itself.
Lastly, of course the cowl itself was a different shape.
I considered making mine a 'G" but dismissed the notion as there were just too many differences.

If Don Smith recommends 23-30cc then I'm in the ballpark. I'll just have to keep it light, with not too much scale "goodies".

Jim

Wow, that's really surprising to me given the size of this airplane. This is a really big airplane even though the fuselage is relatively skinny, the wing center section makes up for it.

I guess those are the only size engines that will fit scale like into the cowls, but I have to ask,
how many 118" w/s single engine warbirds are out the that will fly on a mere 60cc, and fly well?
Even though this is a twin that's about what you have here, 60cc trying to fly a 118" w/s warbird............

Now I understand why the one I saw had US41's in it. If the guy had G23's in it at first it was probably grossly underpowered.

The fins have been attached to the stab. I used slow epoxy so I could recheck alignment as it set up. I used the top view of the stab and the fin centerlines to help line things up.

Finished elevators. I made lightening holes in the rudder and elevator cores to help save weight.

Tail assembly resting on the stab saddle. It's starting to look like an Me110!
I decided to build the wing center section next and bolt it in place to help align the tail before permanently gluing it.

Tmoth4,

I am SO jealous! You certainly have much to be proud of. I'm at the point where I was about to start on the Rich Uravitch 81" Bronco. After seeing your 110 and digging out the plans for my own 89" 110, I'm now in a quandry as to which bird to build first. Keep us posted on your progress............and thanks for your info.

rrudytoo,
I know about deciding which plane to build next. I change my mind every week about which one to do next until I actually start one. Then I'm pretty much committed (sometimes I think I need to be committed!) to finishing it.

That Bronco sounds cool too. You have a tough decision to make. Is your P47 warming up to get ready to go after my 110 when it's done?

Hi guys
I have start building this plane a year ago. It has century retracts glennis wheels with brakes and 3w engines. I don’t decided yet if I put 50cc or 60cc. I build working slats for more realistic appearance.

Hi Anthony. I remember your posts last year concerning the engine choice.

I have seen this aiplane fly with a pair of G38's. It was ok, but just ok. I decided on a bit more power. I'm installing a pair of DA50's which should give me the power I want, but they do require opening the bottom of the cowls. I think 60 cc would be a bit too much for this airplane.

To minimize the cowl openings, I had RCIGN1 machine a couple of 1.5" prop extensions which will allow me to mount the engines as close as possible to the firewall thereby minimizing the cowl openings, but still have the prop hub at the proper length. I might have to do some customization of the side exhaust mufflers too.

That's an interesting addition to the wing. Did the orginal ME110 have LE slats?

I think the Bf 110 had automatic LE slats. They probably worked with springs and rollers so that the slower the plane goes the more they would come out. When the plane goes faster the air pressure pushes them in. I think the 109 has the same setup.

The tail assembly is finished and ready for glassing and covering. I don't know the weight of it but it feels pretty light. I'm not going to attach it to the fuse until the wing center section is built, then I'll be able to line it up better.

This is the bellcrank that operates the rudders. I found Sonictronics super-strength bellcranks at the hobby shop and they are very nice.

Thanks, Tom. I'm really psyched about this plane, even more than the Dauntless, because it's so different than the other warbirds I've built.
