EVOL,

I understand exactly what you're saying. I've seen twins spin in before and your advice is good. I have another twin with gas engines (Cessna Bamboo Bomber) and I had a flameout on one of the engines. It went into a spin but recovered when I lowered the throttle and neutralized the controls. I then nursed it back to the field like a deadstick. Forunately I had enough altitude. One reason I picked the Bf-110 is because of the twin fins. I think it will have more positive rudder control than the Bamboo Bomber, which has that big fat fuselage that might blank out the fin/rudder sometimes. Plus the 110 has long wings and a long tail moment.

As far as the engines go, I will be spending a lot of time in the backyard tuning them to get them running perfectly before flying. For sure I will report on the flying bit.

Jim

Branded,

Hopefully this weekend. I had to do some more work on the exhaust systems because they were really loud. I ran the engines again yesterday and checked the balance of the plane and it looks good to go.

Absolutely beautiful Jim, outstanding job. I'm glad you picked "Staff flight, II Gruppe" for your color scheme. I always thought the bumble bee nose art was cool looking. Good luck on your maiden flight!

Chris.

Thanks, Paul. One of the reasons I did it this big is because I wanted to use gas engines. In my experience they are a lot more reliable than glow.

I almost didn't do the "wasp" scheme but my wife talked me into it. Now I'm glad she did!

Nice bird!

I have a couple questions though.

What paint did you use?
Your fillets are blue. Is this microbaloons and epoxy, or something else?

Thanks
Jack

Jack,
I used microballons and epoxy for the big wing fillets. The smaller fillets and other small holes and low spots were filled with 3M "Green Putty" that I got from my local NAPA auto parts store. It's kind of expensive but it goes a long way.

The paint is Behr flat housepaint that I mixed and matched to match my color references. Then there is a Minwax polyurethane satin clearcoat on it.

I believe the mans question was:"what IS microballoons?" as he does not know.........

as far as i know, it it is a powdery stuff that looks like ground-up foam beer coolers that you can mix into your favorite glue or epoxy to make lightweight filler material out of.

I hope this is what you were looking for.................

First flight on Saturday! It flew beautifully, takeoff was nice and straight, and the handling in the air was very smooth and solid. I got too slow on the landing though and it dropped down hard on the gear, loosening one of the mounting blocks. No biggie but it couldn't be fixed at the field, so I had to quit for the day. I need to do some more adjusting of the engines t
