I don't know of all the different manufacturers, but Klotz castor here is very good.

You want a "de-gummed" formula works best and burns cleanest. See the Klotz website for their info too. Wildcat fuels use Klotz oils in their fuel. It is excellent quality.

Nitromethane and Nitrobenzene are different compounds. Nitrobenzene smells like shoe polish or Hoppe's #9 gun cleaner. Nitrobenzene is a carcinogen and I don't advise using it.

If you're adding a few ounces of castor oil to a gallon of fuel, then drugstore castor oil won't hurt a thing. If you use it as ALL of the oil, or a large part of the oil in your fuel, then your engine will very quickly become varnished and gummy inside. Medicinal castor oil hasn't been degummed, and the gums in the oil will bake onto your engine and solidify quite quickly between uses.

Your best bet is to purchase the racing castors that are intended to be used in fuels and engines.
