So, does the gas/glow plug only system work?

Yes, it works for me. Glow plug powered all the time from single cell Sub-C NiMh (3700mAh). I run Poulan 25 and ASP 61 (modified to fit Walbro carb). The first one is in my CoroCub the other in SPADET. Spadet gets almost 25 minutes of flying from 11cc fuel tank.

And I forgot to mention, use gasoline-oil mix (without methanol).

av8tor1977,
I'm staying away from the gas/glow fuel mix because it's not convienent for me and it's more expensive. I know, you only use 1/3 glow fuel to the gas. I also have to drive 35 miles to the LHS and they don't carry the Super Tiger fuel needed.

If RysiuM is using regular gas/oil mix with a glow plug, then I'll try that. " use gasoline-oil mix (without methanol)"

The idea is to lighten up the motor but use what's easy to get and relativly inexpensive.

Right now, I've been using 100 octane avgas and Lucas semi-synthetic oil at 50:1. Burns very clean with no smoke and little smell. Together, the gas oil mix is costing me $5.50/gal.

I like E-85 and a 3 oz on board glow. My current fuel cost is: 1.85\gal. E-85 and 1.78 for Cool Power green.
5 oz. for 25:1. You do have to buy a quart (32 oz) for about 11.00. That's 3.68 and the power is great.
Mac 28 (mods) on a 18X6W gives 8000 rpm. Bowman ring not broken in yet.

I'm still flying it with great success. Was just out yesterday and flew multiple trouble free flights with my Giant Stik with a twin cylinder 48cc engine running Gas/Glow. Easy starting, better power, slow idle, etc. Works for me...

I found one bad thing about the gas-glow fuel mix at least with the oil I used. The fuel separated and created a small flakes of something that clogged the carb. I wanted the engine trouble free so I changed to gasoline only. So I was running my Poulan 25 on Gasoline/oil mix with glow plug that was powered all the time. I lost some power comparing to gas-glow fuel mix but no more problems with fuel separation.

The bad thing that the engine did not sound "clean" - regardless of the mixture setting it made the sound like always to rich. I did not have a clue how to fix it until I think I found the problem few weeks ago. Poulan 25 originally has ZAMA carburetor with 7 mm throat. For the sake of experiment I replace it with WT322 that has 9.54mm throat. That was it. The engine runs clean and gets 1500 rpm more. Still on gasoline-oil mix with glow plug powered all the time.

You should be able to use up to a 11mm carb in the 25cc engine

But if it is running good with what you are using the I would leave it alone.

Hey Guys...I met a guy that has a Supertiger 3000.  He could never get ti to run right untill he tried L85 gasoline with a O.S. Max "F" glow plug.  He pours 18 oz Klotz oil in a gallon jug...the rest L85 gas.  I could not hardly believe how good that engine ran!  He had it on a good sized war bird!    Capt,n

Hi capt'n,

That works out to about 7:1 gas to oil. Does the ST 3000 need that much oil, or is it just because it is on gas instead of glow fuel? Was the Klotz the Super Techniplate with synthetic AND castor? I read where it will mix with both gasoline and methanol. I guess when they say methanol they also include ethanol??

I have a Rhino (made by Cox for their Beaver chainsaw) that came to me with no ignition, but with a glow plug adapter. I want to try it with gas-glow or just methanol and no gas, and with Klotz oil. Whadya all think?

Thanks,

Richard

Hey Bob (Avi8tor)!
see how far our works has reached!!!! to me this is kind of a certain recognition to our work, finally GAS/GLOW is going INDUSTRIAL and is finally recognized as an alterbnative by the industry.

If you read the details in the link, the 180 Enya is sold as a Gas/glow engine which is the title of this thread.

They use a Special chemosyntheses oil to perpetuate the action of the glow plug ?

Fiendishly clever, those Japanese. And the oil is only $500-a-gallon!

I am still unable to find a glow plug adapter to fit a glow plug in my RCGF engine that uses a 10 MM spark plug. I am not a machinist and don't have machine tools, so making one is out.

Anyone know of a source?

I would really like to run the 20 cc engine on gas/oil using full time glow.

Thanks

The problem is the there is not enough difference in size to be able to make a reliable adapter
