I haven't been able to contain myself...

Chip Hyde (no introduction necessary) is introducing two new 3D ARF's due in the end of next month!!!!!

But that's only the beginning... these planes offer VERY LOW wingloading, attractive pricing and to quote Chip:

"These planes will change the face of learning and flying 3D."

Enough fluff... here's the specs and pics!

First is the Double Vision... you've heard of the pattern version... now check out the 3D version!!!!! AWESOME!!!

Double Vision 3D ARF
75" Wingpspan
1600 sq. in. wing area
13.55-15.0 lbs designed for a DA-50 or other 50cc powerhouse
Plug in wings and stab
Fuel tank
Surfaces hinged
Removeable canopy
6061 Machined aluminum control horns
Fiberglass cowl and pipe tunnel
Colors match monokote
Price removed in response to MOD request, ask elsewhere for pricing

Now the CAP-X

Wing span 74
length 69
Weight 10.5-12.5
Engine Size 1.6-50cc
Kit includes Fuel Tank, 6061 Machined Aluminum Control Horns, Soft Mount, painted cockpit and canopy, fibergalss Cowl and wheel pants and much more.

Chip says: "This is not anything like the CAPs before it. I have modified it a great deal to make sure it does not have any of a CAP's bad habits."

Price removed in response to MOD request, ask elsewhere for pricing requires 6-10hrs for assembly

There is NO doubt these planes will sell faster than any other that's come to the market...

Are you going to be doing one of your first class reviews? Yours KICK ASSS! I hope so! I would like to hear how you like it before I buy it. Of course Chip Hyde is saying it's the best ... somewhat of a biased opinion although.

These have been kept quiet because Chip values his reputation... he has released them for sale only when he's comfortable with their performance.

If he says they rock... well... that's all I need to hear... I'll bet there will be a waiting list for the second batch within a week or so...

I'm working on that... give me a little while to determine the best method of contact...

The chiphyde.com site will be up in a couple days, but there may be an even faster way to get on the list...

I saw Chip's DV Sport fly in Las Vegas last month. It really does fly well. I'm hoping to have one something towards the end of this month/beginning of next. Chip's had a DA-50 on a pitts muffler and was VERY impressive.

Hmm, looks pretty cool. I heard about the Double Vision a while back. Be interesting to see how this Cap-X performs.

I saw Chip fly the DA-50 DV at Vegas and it was nice. I've also seen a Double Vision up close and personal at my field, and it was set up for pattern. While a nice plane for flying 3D, it isn't IMAC or Pattern legal so you are left with an awfully expensive sport plane.

J. David,

I always like visiting your site. I hope you get a chance to review one or both of these planes as I would be interested in your detailed photo chronology.

When you next speak with Mr. Hyde, please inform him that in one of the pics his rudder looks precariously close to the ground . Which would of course put him in violation of rule#9

I still like the planes and would definately be interested in your review if you get the chance to do one.

Disclaimer: This message was written with tongue firmly planted in cheek to illustrate the ridiculous nature of Rule #9 as it has been discussed so far in other threads. I know the tail was not touching, but it sure was close......and Oh the innocents that could have been injured if.....say....his wing touched that trailer and sent shock waves through the plane disabling all control functions allowing the aircraft to fly off in an unpredictable attitude and direction. Personally, I thought he looked in absolute control.

O.K. guys.........Flame away if you must!

Whoa there now... I'll be the first to say I know less than I'd like... But as far as being RC? If you **** me I'm pretty sure my blood has some glow fuel in it... but doesn't everyone that is smitten with this hobby?

You're not gonna turn into DeNiro in "The Fan" are ya?

Seriously, I'm just another guy, who likes RC and am getting in as deep as I can... (snorkel please)

Remember in the movie The Fan when Bobby gave Gil his jersey, hat and glove because he was so annoying and wanted him to leave and stay away? You know the scene where Gil saves his kids life.

Well I only have 1 word to say "Bulldog".

But don't worry I am not as good with a knife as Gil was. I'm more like an M-16 kinda guy from my Marine Corps days. Why bother with a Barlow when you can pick your target off 1,000 feet away.

I think you know what I am getting at Bobby .... oops I mean J David.

Straight from Chip himself...

I have been commissioned to design the website, and I asked if I could spill the beans.

I knew that there would be a lot of people interested in these and I wanted to get the info to the RCU guys right away. One look at how fast Wild Hare sold out of their 50 cc Edge and Extreme Flight is buried with guys waiting on ttheir 50cc planes...

I KNOW these will sell so fast your head will swim. 50cc gas biplane with enourmous 3D surfaces, about 21 oz. sq. ft. wingloading AND Chip's willing to put his name on it. The very fact that he hasn't hyped these to death and waited til he was sure of their performance, construction quality and delivery time period BEFORE announcing them sure has ME excited about them.

That's good enough for me. I have one of each coming... it was a no brainer!

I've never met Chip in person (hope to one day tho and get some instruction) but he seems like a nice guy on the phone. A regular guy whose loving this hobby (and just happens to be one of the truly gifted pilots).

I'll take this one J David.

Ummm ... you've seen the DV Pattern Ship ... not the new, never seen DV 3D. Unless of course I am mistaken?

I am sure Chip is going to have the 3D design as close as he can as to eliminate as much coupling as possible on knife edges.

J David ... A good question is what is going to be the differnce between the pattern and 3D other then the size of the control surfaces?
