OK Guys,

This has been three pages of commercial post for Chip's new planes....I am sorry to have to close it.

Had we stayed with talking about the flying characteristics, it would have been fine, but we went to talking about prices, posting a website to get on the waiting "LIST", anticipation of the NEW site, and then it went into discussions of Chip's flying ability and the NO TOUCH THE TAIL RULE........

This can be launched in the New Products Forum, when it is available, this is not a PRE-sale forum

Yes it did turn somewhat commercial, but not intentionally.

I wanted to share the NEWS of two new ARF's coming. I had some insider information I wanted to share with the other RCU guys.

Stopping the thread now won't accomplish anything... it's just now getting into the "let's talk about it in depth phase"...

Another one can just start up accordingly otherwise...

So, Mod... please give it a little leniency and see how it develops... the announcement part is over... let's talk particulars...

Well, I tried, guess my Community Mod features don't work in 3D (still a few bugs to work out)........not trying to be an ass, but this needs to either get back on topic, or be locked.....I wasn't going to delete it, just lock it.....

I did talk with Chip at length about the new CAP-X...

He said it was one of the most unbelievable planes he's ever flown... rock solid and awesome wingloading... he said the 1.60FX was great for it and would most likely be the best solution. The Saito 180's YS-140's would rock the house too and bolt right on... They did put a DA-50 on it and he said it was a monster. Just unbelievably crazy power.

The firewall is send loose so you can edjust according to your engine...

It comes with a soft mount (his own design) too...

J. David,

As long as WE can keep it ON topic, and not reference the site anymore, or discuss the price, it should be fine.....I know that we all can keep in focus on this issue.....

Thanks for turning it back around

I guess what got me so excited was hearing Chip's voice. After all these years and flying as many planes as he has, he still has a fire about flying. ANd he was simply tickled when thinking about the CAP-X.

I guess Garret Morrison, Jason Schulman and Sean McMurtry had a blast flying it and the DV...

What's a pogo? Chip said they were doing those coming down close to the ground and slamming into a rock steady hover... Just when you'd think toothpicks were next...

From the pics... the DV looks like it has a pull-pull rudder and I'd imagine a single 5945 would do nicely... A pair on the elevators and 4 on the wings...

And I'm still wondering about a tuned pipe... the pics scaleaerobatics posted showed the side mount...

A pogo is a torque roll or hover where you are hitting the throttle and backing off so the plane is jumping up and down like on a pogo stick.

So if you are talking about a particular airplane and ask how much it is and you get a response, that is considered a commercial post????

No, when someone who is commercially connected to the product starts a thread about it, that is a commercial post.

I have been asked to remove the prices from the original post as it makes it a commercial thread. And I will do so. The MODS are only doing their job.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but I really just wanted some RCU buds to get in on the first batch.

Mine's already reserved and I gain NOTHING from posting it here. I easily could have taken this info to the other sites who allows this sort of "scoop" but didn't... RCU is the only place I posted this info, and is the only one that has it. (Though I guess now it's O.K. to take it elsewhere where it may be welcome)

Since this ends the commercial aspect of this thread, let's DO keep it going with questions about the plane, setup, etc. and I'll do my best to get the answers. I DO know that the chiphyde.com site will be up in a couple days with lots of info and that will answer a lot of questions too.

One final note on the 1st batch... as I said only a very few DV's are slated in the first delivery and some were already promised out. Any confirmation you received does not imply you got one of the first batch... but does lock you in on the second batch which is sure to be sold out before the end of this month. In fact, within the first hour the first batch of DV's were allocated. There were more CAP-X's available to start, but they are going fast.

MODS... That last bit is to make sure noone was mislead by anyone else's post in this thread about order confirmation. I promise not to talk anymore about price, stock or availability. Only operational and setup from here on out.

Someone else mentioned ease of harrier & hover... Chip stated the same thing... he said: "It's really amazing... people who are just learning to hover & harrier are able to do them rock solid with only a few minutes stick time on the DV."
....snip....

After reading this thread this is my favorite quote by far. Here is a plane that is so great that you can hover it with only a few minute of stick time? Now aren't we getting a weee bit carried away with that one?

I don't doubt C.H.'s reputation, skills, opinions or that he's a great guy but this thread is over the top. He's probably rolling his eyes if he's read any of this.

J.D. you've come a long way in a short while in this hobby but calm down man. Your connection with the website is maybe clouding your usual objectivity and I'd like you to get your hands on an actual production model to get your point of view as an expert builder.

How many times have we seen a new item that was perfect on the first run? Isn't it a LOT more common to see new products get tweaked after they have gotten out to the market where they truley get tested?

I'll wait till you guys do the testing and they find out what needs to be changed over in Taiwan before I get my panties in a bunch over this one, but I am really excited to be able to hover in a only few minutes time.

BasinBum,

I think you kinda misread the statement... it did NOT say "People just learning to FLY"... It DID say "people who are just learning to hover & harrier"

Chip's statement implies that the plane is very easy to hover and harrier because it offers little no wing rock.

Of COURSE a first time flier isnt going to hover/harrier ANY plane... but maybe now you see the sentence didn't SAY THAT...

But now you have me ultimately curious... what COLOR are your panties...

If you want a user report, here's one:

Tom Fenn is 65 yrs young, and been flying for 3.5 years:

To whom it may concern,

I have only had the opportunity to fly Chip Hyde's ,"fun fly", Double Vision one time. Even though I am a recreational pilot, and far from a professional, I do know a easy flying plane.
The day I flew the Double Vision I was amazed at how easy it flew. It was almost as if it knew in advance what I wanted it to do. To be perfectly honest, the time on the sticks passed way too quickly, as time will do when you are having a good time. The Harrier is a move I stumble thru with most planes but the Double Vision performed it with ease. I must attribute this to the plane more than my flying capabilities. When it was time to land I waited until on final to ask Chip if he wanted me to land it. When he found out how close I was to landing he just said to bring it in. I admit that it was nervous time as I have never landed one of his planes. It settled in just like a trainer, and again made me look good. Keep in mind this is all at 5000 feet on a 100 degree day.

I am patiently awaiting the time that I will have one of my own to play with.

Tom Fenn

After practicing low hovering they are usually brown.
