Anybody notice how many of the crashing pilots had "JR" signs on their clothes? I thought it was amusing, since I fly mostly Futaba.

Haw.

Bill.

Will,

That is pretty funny....

What isn't funny is the seemingly never ending crashes. I'm sure those guys do a preflight check EVERY time they fly. Just cause they spend pounds, euros (or whatever their currency in south africa is) instead of dollars doesn't mean it hurts any less.

IMHO there are two really bad sequale when one crashes (salvagably that is....)

1. Rebuilding

2. Making sure your rebuild is just as strong, or stronger, than the original.

These two aspects of rebuilding make my heart sink.

I know I would have definitely and undeniably checked MY retract mechanism and my turbine starts to full throttle multiple times to assure my self that my rig passed my preflight check list! But as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Maybe Uncle Murphy just needed to REALLY lay down the law in South Africa that day. Shoot, I'd vacation there!
