I have been messing around with my TMaxx trying to get a OFNA .21 to fit on it (off of a GT LX buggy)....I have been bored, and didn't wanna buy the conversion kit, just wanted to make it work....
I have created enough room....but now the problem I am having is the clutchbell and pinion of the .21 don't mesh with the spur. I can't put the pinion and clutchbell off of the TMaxx onto the motor because of flywheel issues and crap. The clutchnut off of the TMaxx is for a smallblock so it won't fit onto the .21 because the crankshaft is obviously larger.....or that would solve my problem.
I was wondering what all I would need in order to get the right flywheel, clutch, pinion etc...to make it all work.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

well in the past I'de have a longer answer to the problem by fitting the maxx flywheel onto the .21 using spacers behind the flywheel.. but.. now associated has made .21 converions much easier in a maxx. just buy a monster GT spur gear it is a direct replacement for the maxx's spur gear but the MGT spur gear is the propper pitch for 1/8 scale clutchbells.

FYI.. tower hobbies has the tech notes wrong.. the MGT's gearing is not 32 pitch.. its the same at the 1/8 buggies 1.0.

I put a Hyper 21 in my Maxx and I just used the nut that came with the Hyper to hold the stock Maxx flywheel and it all went right on the big problem is a exhaust manifold and slide carb linkage. I just did enough to see how it would perform with a 21 then I bought the XTM kit. It did perform well like your doing it wheelied over backwards while just testing it out and scratched the head. So I would keep that in mind when you first try it and maybe run on grass until you get it straightened out and can put the body on. But it worked well with the Maxx stuff it was the exhaust part that forced me to go with the XTM kit.

How did you manage to get room to put the motor on....I am trying to see if I did the same thing you did in order to get the extra space needed....(which is quite a bit).
Also, you didn't shim the flywheel out or put spacers behind it? because the conical piece that goes behind it doesn't seem to fit off the Tmaxx onto the Hyper. Will the MIP TMaxx clutch work ok too?

SixVi6-Camaro:
I wanna kinda keep with the ratio I have.....72 tooth Spur and 22 pinion...is that possible with the Associated stuff?

It would be better to run an 1/8 scale clutch if you can simply because the stock maxx clutches won't hold up to a big block. the stock maxx clutch slips and slips constantly and you will wear them out quick.

the ratio will be the same depending on the clutchbell you chosse. the stock 72/22 is 3.27 ratio.. with the MGT spur gear and 1/8 scale clutchbell you could do a 52/16 which is a 3.25 ratio.
