I'm looking for a new plane for my homelite 25cc. I've narrowed it down to 2 planes... The H9 Ultra Stick Lite, or the H9 Edge 540. Which do you think would be better? Is the 25cc engine enough power for the edge? Would the engine fit inside the cowl? I don't have the electronic ignition, so I am concerned that the flywheel would keep the engine from fitting inside the cowl. lastly, would weight be an issue for the edge? Thanks for input!

Take a look at the thread entitled "what do you have your conversion in?" There are lots of good suggestions in there!

By the way, I have my Homelite 25cc in a Great Planes Big Stik .60. It really gets after it!

Tom

Hi Tom,

I had a Big Stick 60 converted to a low wing with a gasser on it. Finally crashed it due to interference. I'm in the process of rebuilding it. What mods did you make to your Stick for the gasser?

Thanks in advance,
AV8TOR

FWIW I wanted to put a Ryobi 31cc in an Ultra Lite Stick, but I read Mike McConville said it needed 2 oz in the tail for a Saito 1.80 (considerably lighter).

I am building a balsa USA stingray 120. This plane weigh's in at 9 1/2 lbs with 1276 sq. in. wing area. and an 83" wing span. Looks a lot like a Sig Mid Star. I think this plane would make a good option for a Homelite engine

Thanks

I would go with the Ultra Stik. I have a H9 Edge 540 and its too heavy for a 25cc. Wing loading would be too high unless you're running a pipe and large carb on that weedie.

I ended up ordering a Cermark Pitts. Can't wait! The 25 may not be enough power. If not, I have a 31cc that I could use.
