worlds fastest rc car
if you thought nitro are the fastest rcs sit down and lison to my story
World's Fastest RC Car
Cliff Lett's remote-control car can reach speeds of up to 111 mph.
There are three basic rules for racing remote-control cars.
1.Wash and wax your car regularly, but don't throw it in the dishwasher.
2.Steer clear of miniature donut shops. That's where the miniature Highway Patrol hangs out.
3.Do not challenge Cliff Lett to an RC car race, because he will beat you. Easily.
Lett is the head of the design team at Team Associated, a sort of mad scientists' laboratory for RC cars. His modified RC10 L3O Insane Speed Run car posted a speed of 111 mph at a speed-record attempt at Irwindale Speedway in 2001.
That speed has been verified by the folks over at Guinness World Records, and it leaves the official posted record of 59.09 mph in its dust. Lett's record isn't on the Guinness World Records site yet, but he's got the certificate to prove the record is legit.
there you go you nitro people nitro is not faster
heres what cliff used in his speed run
1.Use a Reedy-modified motor with less than 12 turns. Make sure your speed control can handle the turn motor you purchase.
2.Increase the size of the motor pinion gear or decrease the spur gear size.
3.Use a Lehner brushless motor (XL 4200) and Schulze 18-128 brushless speed control.
4.Use Reedy Extreme racing batteries. Use seven or more cells, depending on your speed control limit.
5.Pick a car body that's more aerodynamic. Make sure the front of the body isn't blunt or flat. You want the body to be rounded and smoothly shaped.

So, which is it? A brushed or brushless motor? You listed both.
I know that you can reach speeds that high with either motor, but which did he use?

First off thew original person who posted this thread - has his facts wrong. The car that did the 111MPh had a 2turn brushless motor in it. The TC3 that did 96MPh is what had the 12 turn brushed motor. Here is a link to the article with the full story of what what used and gear ratios and every other detail.

RE: worlds fastest rc car
If you read the article I posted the link for - you would see in the TC3 had the following:
RACE GEAR
• Transmitter Airtronics Caliber 3PS
• Receiver LRP Phazer
• ESC LRP V7.1
• Batteries Reedy Zappers 2400mAh (14 cells)
• Motor Saiko Racing machined motor can with neo magnets and Reedy 12-turn double armature, brushes and endbell
• Servo Futaba S9102
I do not see a 10 turn double in the list. I see a 12 turn as I stated before.
And the car that did the 111MPh had the following:
RACE GEAR
• Transmitter Airtronics Caliber 3PS
• Receiver LRP Phazer
• ESC Aveox F5HV
• Batteries 1000mAh 2/3 sub-C batteries (24 cells)
• Motor Aveox 1409/2Y 2-turn brushless motor
• Servo Airtronics 94151
If you ask me, you can setup the same equipment and use the same # of cells but with todays battery technology you can get much higher speeds. In an interview Cliff let on saying that he could have gotten higher speeds with the car. I believe to take the gold at next June's RC Car Challange speed event, http://www.rccaraction.com/news/car_challenge.asp -- it will take making your car hit in the 150's or you do not have a chance.

One more thing - Cassy - Not trying to bust on you and don't take it personal - But You need to do more research on brushed motors.
If Cliff Lett can take a 12t motor that Mike Reedy himself put together do 96MPh - I would not be making comments saying 12t brushed motors are crap. Making the car go fast is not always brushless. I personally do not run brushed motors because they have a lot of maintence to keep them in peak condition. That is why I run brushless. But some blokes I know can make a brushed motor out perform most brushless anyday. I personally do not have the know how to make brushed motor to have that kind of performance. That is why I run brushless.
Some guys I know back in the US run RC electric drag cars. They go 135ft for their race against a clock. They get 85MPh 1.61 seconds in 135 ft. They use brushed motors and not brushless.
I would not be surprised that it is a brushed motor that walks away with being the winner in next years event in California.

Actuly I did use the search function thats how i fond this thread. I didnt see the thread you started, Studysession.
Buy the way, how is youre car comming? Theres this guy Sigurd Ruschkow you should know him, hes working on a car to break the speed record. It looks like he knows what he is doing, you might have some competition.

Personally - we all have a lot competition. There are many people and companies that are not posting anything or talking about it. I really think there will be loads of fast cars there. It is will tough.
I started my project before that was ever anounced.
As for my car - I am waiting on parts at the moment.

RE: worlds fastest rc car
I watched the vidio on the 200mph car. Sorry but i was not impressed. To me it was like throwing a rock with a engine on it. Now on the other hand what studysession is doing taking a car just like we use and try to control it, now thats impressive. I cant wait to see what speeds can be reached this time.

A Saiko Racing machined motor can with super-strong neodymium magnets and a Reedy 10-turn double armature produce the rpm needed to propel the TC3 to near-buck speeds.
