Yes, you could but by the time you modify all the rest of the car to work with that Engine you could buy a whole new Engine!
So Yes it can be done, but no I wouldnt do it, because you will have to change alot of things to make it fit and run correctly.
I hope that helps!

they already make a engine mount and flywheel adapter for that engine to put it into the car. The only thing that i am worrying about is throttle linkage and buying a engine pullstart

i know that they make a longer chassis conversion for the 4 stroke, but will there be enough room to put a .40fs in a tmaxx without the conversion??

Well, to tell you the truth hardly no one drives a 4 stroke in there R/C car. they have better motors now.

You just can bolt a "pull Start" on the back of the engine, the Carb set up and crank in that engine is not designed for a pull starter.

Plus the crank shaft is LOOOOOOOONG, to long you'd have to do some cutting and shimming just to get a flywheel on properly.

Better off trying to find a FS-40S-CX truck/buggy engine, then all you need is a standard 25 conversion I believe.
Don't forget the cooling Fan. Everyone that's run 4 strokes in a truck has had to fig a fan to keep the engine cool. The 4 strokes don't have big enough cooling fins and run hot without a fan.
Unforunatly that engne is discontinued, came in a pull start version too

lol. Better engines like how? 2 strokers=higher rpm which will=more spped that a lot of people like. 4strokers produce ALOT more low end torque(sp?). So there ya have thats why not to any people use 4strokes. And 4 strokes use a differnt kind of fuel.

RPM has nothing to do with speed...it is the gearing that is of importance...an engine turning 10 000 RPMs can be as fast as an engine turning 20 000 RPMs...

And actually I think gearing is the issue as far as speed is concerned
That FS-40S-CX 4 stroke will turn 20k tops(the fs40 maybe 14K before it starts floating valves)
a average .21 2 stroke will turn 35k(+or-) easy
you'll need to turn up the finial gear ratio at around 43% higher to achive the same top end speed. That's a big gearing change

Now if you put the FS-40S-CX in a buggy and ran the MT tires/wheels then you might get close to a decent speed, and can play with bigger clutch bells to get the idea finial drive ratio

I love 4 stroke in my planes, but I can't see going to the trouble foe a car or truck
