nitroman88-RCU -> 15% or 25%?? (11/23/2003 4:07:41 AM)

simple question

would i make more power running 15% nitro with 16% oil or 25% nitro with 18% oil??? both fuels have half syn and half castor.

thanks

WELLLLLLLLL according to the drag race boys >nitro=>power!?!?!?

yes but less oil also means more power.

ZAGNUT -> RE: 15% or 25%?? (11/23/2003 10:10:04 PM)

more nitro=higher volume of fuel running through the engine= lower % of oil needed for proper lubrication......that's the theory anyway

Depending on the engine you may actually end up losing power with the higher nitro if its compression is too high. Easy fix though if this happens, just start experimenting with adding head shims. A cooler plug can help avoid detonation if the compression is too high but then the timing is wrong to get the extra power you're after. Unless the oil content goes to ridiculous levels then it has no affect on power because the volume of oil per cycle (which displaces the same volume of air) is so minute you'll never see any difference. What zagnut said is quite correct, in theory, but unless you know exactly the difference in fuel flow rates between different fuels then you'd be taking a big chance cutting back on the amount of oil.

im gonna start running the 25%, o.s. says that this engine is good up to 30%..
