Mike,
This is a tough question to ask a manufacture's representative. I own Hitec 422, 425, 525, 605 (MG and BB), and 615 (MG and BB) all have performed flawlessly. Also, in an accident, I striped the gears on 1 of the 525s... simply got the new gear set and it hasn't missed a beat. Tough little servo.
I just received 9 x Futaba 3305s for my first gas project (1/3 scale H9 w/BME 102) at the recommendation of a close and trusted friend. My 1st inclination was to buy Hitecs, as a matter of fact, I almost ordered the 645MG and 945MGs for this project. I had thought hard about the digitals as well.

There is a rumor afloat Mike, perhaps you can address it.

"Htec: 5xxx series Hitecs are well known for failure and incompatibility." Can you address this statement from an experienced IMAC competitor? He is not sponsored and does not receive 'gifts' from any manufacturer.
I have heard of, not experienced, failures in the analog servos too. Same question, can you address this with some facts?

I think to address this perhaps documentation stating something to the effect; From every 100 x 5xxx servos shipped, x% are returned for a) DOA b)failure during service c)manufacturer defect d).... anyway, you get the idea. How many servos are failing for every 100 or 1000 shipped?

I hope your not upset at this question but rather find this as an opportunity to provide myself and others with the assurance running Hitec servos is the way to go.
Best regards,
Jeff M.

Jeff,
If you use the search function here, you'll find lots of discussion on the subject of the relative reliability of Hitec digital servos. When they first came out a couple of years ago, there was an issue with programming the travel to exceed 125%. Hitec fixed the problem in subsequent releases of the servo and software and to my knowledge, it is no longer an issue.
While asking about a particular type of servo here is like going to a car show and asking if Ford is better than Chevy. You'll find arguments on both sides. My experiences with Hitec digital servos has been positive. Many here you'll find will express the same thing.

Not to answer for mike but you cant lump all 5xxx servos together either. The 5645's had early problems, they use inexpensive 3 pole motors and are a basiclly a sport servo. but Ive never heard any thing specific on the corless digital 945's being bad more than the occasional failure that any servo manufacturer will have. The non digital corless 945 is still available and is an excellent servo if digital makes you nervous. I dont know about all lines but recently I had a transistor come completely off a 645's board. It was in a gasser and it was in for almost a year but I would like to recommend to mike that hitec start using potting epoxy on there boards to seal the components and help minimize shaking damage in there higher end servos if it isnt allready. I know my 645's are not
