Wow I've never seen such self-opinionated BS :O

1. RTR's aren't near as bad as anybody says. Yes, you should always check for loctite, grease etc, but if you aren't doing this already its your fault it breaks.

2. RTR engines aren't crap, for the most part. Long as you treat an engine right it will run like it is supposed to. INCLUDING THE FORCE .21's!

3. If your item is on backorder, get it somewhere else.

4. Hyper's are great buggies, and the Hyper 8 port is a great engine that comes in a RTR, so does that make it trash since a RTR uses it? NO

5. 4cell AA packs can last all day, I had one last a week while powering a S5302 servo (futaba i hope those are the correct numbers) because my rec pack got fried. Just usually clumsy ppl like you forget to turn off the servo switch when you aren't using them.

6. Standard servo's are fine in RTR's just dont expect to race with them. They get the job done for the community that buys RTR's... PPL WHO WANT TO HAVE FUN.

I hate it when ppl's views are all "my glass is half empty." Totally try to ruin the fun just because they have something better than a RTR.

casey - I agree with almost everything except the servos. Sometimes on an RTR you get good servos but a lot of times get week for steering. My Hyper 7 could barely turn with the stock servo. But my TMaxx I feel the stock servo was good enough, only replace it when it breaks. So that one is a hit or miss.

Most not all RC's I have owned, have been RTR's and have had good experiences with RTR's.

Get the Hitech HS-645MG for steering, it should be more than adequate. Yes, there are others, but this is affordable for bashing and club racing ($40 at ServoCity.com). You may also consider the new one from XTM listed on HobbyPeople's site (XTM X-175 MGHP Torque Punisher Servo). Listed as having outrageous torque, but I don't know anything about the quality.

Yes, the HPI Roto Start kit does fit the XTM .247. You'll need a 7.2V battery to use it.
