Hello Aldous.

THAT LOOKS GREAT. Is there any way, I can get a hold of those drawings as well?

Hi Stig,

The CAD operator charges me for distribution of the CAD files other than to Oakdaleaircraft, where Russ is considered as my partner (instead of friend).

Internal ducting, step 2. I ran out of 0,6 mm plywood, so I have to order some more, before I can finish.

The fuselage is very stiff now, so I have released it from the building board. From the bottom you can se the mounting plates for the U/C

Stig,

that is masterfull building mate!!!

the ductwork is superb!

what are the ducts made out of?...

also, there is a round section in between your ducts- is this part of the standard turbine kit structure?..

Cheers,

Tim.

Hello Tim.

Thanks a lot.

The duct is made of 0,6 mm. plywood.
Yes, the round section between the inlets is part of the kit.

How is your projekt coming along?

Hi Stig,

well it is very promising as we have alot of support and we are able to rapid prototype and tether test. We are using an Inertial measurement unit with 6 degrees of freedom for the p'type, but will have a control board developed in house that is much cheaper and uses similar technology.

We have everything modelled in 3d. i am just updating our mass budget right now. The idea is that eventually we will have this model adapted for turbine and any scale, as the control system is the most critical item.

also, the aim is to design it to be easily maintained, and also at much less than the off the shelf jet kits... we are aiming for around $1000-$1500 for the glass kit with controller.
I am particularly interested in the front former of your kit... it is right where our lift fan is located.

Tim.

ps. hi aldous...

Hi Tim,

You are correct that the 5'6" version has more details than the 3'4" version, with the lift fan hole laser cut as well.

Cheers. Aldous.

During the past two days I have been working on getting everything ready for cutting the flying surfaces. And finally tonight I cut all the parts from styrofoam. It's starting to look like a real plane now.

I have not startet the turbine installation yet. I think it will be a while. I plan on getting the flying surfaces ready for skinning and finishing the ducting before the Christmas Holidays. (My mother in law is arriving on the 23rd, so I plan on spending a lot of time in my shop during the holidays)

The foam parts have now been sheeted with 2 mm balsa. I have laminated a piece of glass cloth between the foam and the sheeting on critical points. (The Avonds way)

All the styrofoam parts have now been sheeted and partly sanded and I am working on the pivot box for the tailrons. Also the steel spars for the wings. Here are some more pics.

Hi Stig: That is an awesome plane!! Sure would like to see one fly. Are you coming over to Florida Jets this year? Whatever happened to that lovely F-104 that I photographed last year?

I am getting better at taking flight shots with my SLR, it just takes a lot of practice. It would be great to get a takeoff shot of your F-35 someday.

Hello Brian.

I will do everything possible to get to Florida Jets, but chances are not so good right now. I am not sure I can afford it. I guess I can't have everything

The F-104 was sold to a friendly guy from Texas called Scott Marr. I hope he still has it. As you can see from some of the pics from my shop, I still have your great photos of it.

Wings and Finns are almost finished now. They just need a little sanding. The tailrons need more work.

Standard kit is around $100,

there are deluxe and other versions available. mine has EJF retracts.

contact Russ Ahlberg user name Rahlberg13 i think.. tell him i sent you.

yes, Electric is possible. glass versions to be released early 2004.

but of course, the glass version will be more expensive.

you need to have an electric (wemotec) suitable to produce 10-15N. 20N+ for grass.
