I was just looking at the full-size mock up here at the factory, and I wonder: how will you balance it with the center of lift so far aft?

Beautiful model by the way.

Thanks, David. (and volkan)

I know a guy who can calculate the CG for me. Because I don't have a clue I have placed the turbine as far back as I could, just to have some weight in the back. To begin with, I want to make it a bit nose heavy, to make sure it's stable. And then, when I have the first few flights on it, move the CG rearwards until it's OK.

The first layer has been rubbed down. I will apply the next tomorrow. Still hoping to fly it during our meeting in Holstebro. It's a tight scedule, though.

Sorry for not posting the pics earlier, but I have been working very hard the last days to get the F-35 ready for test flight. I finally made it, and tomorrow I will be travelling to our annual Jet event in Holstebro with the F-35 ready to fly in primer. I hope everything will work our fine. We will know in a few days. Here are some pics from the last stages of mounting the parts.

The engine was test run in my driveway. Everything is working well with the SimJet 1200 producing 16 lbs thrust. The model weighs 21 lbs wet.

Hey Stig,

You've made it, and the plane really looks great. All the best to your maiden flight.

Cheers. Aldous.

I have been thinking of doing one of the smaller F-35s from oakdale for a practice run on this bigger plane, maybe a EDF. The onlt problem I envision is I have limited exp with foam covered wings/surfaces.

Great work BTW !

Where are you Stig?

Sorry guys.

Just got back from the meeting in Holstebro. My F-35 flies great. I will get some pics and some video in the next days, so I can share this great succes with you guys.

I had two flights with it, where everything went perfect. On the takeoff roll for the third flight I damaged the model slightly, but I can repair it in a few weeks, I think. ( I ran into a pole again )

Overall I am very pleased with the performance, and I am sure I will do further work on this plane. I want to do a plug for the F-35, and then we need somebody to help me make some molds. This plane is to good to be true. Just wait till you see the video.

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but did you go vertical launch or takeoff?

Hi Stig,

Congratulations! The F-35 is an easy to fly model. With further tunning we hope it flies even greater than F-15s.

I'm pulling molds from the plug that I built. Let's talk about it further. My Email ID is aldous@xmlhk.com.

Cheers. Aldous.

The F-35C has no VTOL capability; it's projected to fly off conventional carriers.

Congrats Stig!

"again" after the first time I think the pole would have found a new home in a dumpster somewhere.
