RC Guy, The one I go to has huge rolls of it in the fabric department, right next to the bolts of cloth. Anything from 1/4 inch to 2 inch wide on 25 foot rolls.

I found a place on-line to order Velcro http://www.hookandloop.com/cgi-bin/velcro and they are located in Jacksonville, FL. Velcro wrap around 1" by 25 yards at $42.52 plus $5.95 shipping. How's that price compare to you Hobby Lobby? I'll be using the Velcro to hold my smaller planes planes to their prospective wall mounted PVC hangers. Russ

Russ:

I was going to suggest doing a Google search for Velcro. There's a bunch of places that sell it in quantity at a reasonable price. Looks like you found one already.

Outstanding job on these trailers, guys. I'm with John VH, are you going to put planes in that, RC Nutt? Heck of a nice job. With a cot you could camp out with it and have all the comforts of home!

Thanks guys!

Sorry it took awhile to get back to you guys...been fishing

Eventually planes will be part of the decor when I figure out how to make quick release brackets.

What I did with the carpet was laid out glue Sporadically every foot and heavier on high traffic areas such as entrance at side door and especially the ramp. Staples just were not going to cut it for me. So I was very careful about putting glue down so when the time came to replace I could get it out more easily.

Cabinets I custom made with a weight factor in mind.
Made 1x4 frame and then simply skinned it with a poplar face frame same with the doors, the tops and door panels are made from tile board which is a great surface to clean plus durability. The most difficult part for me was working with the bowed front of the trailer requiring me to scribe the counter top and bottom piece for the upper cabinets.

I went and looked at pre-fab cabinets also and agree with you too heavy.

I will send a picture of the ramp shortly

R/C Nut great job on the cabinets. I just might build and install doors on my cabinets. Could you please go into more detail on how you built the doors for the cabinets with maybe a rough sketch. What hinges did you use and did you buy them at Home Depot? Also looking forward to pictures of the ramp door on your trailer and how you finished this part of your customization.

I'm using 3/4" PVC pipe for side mounted hangers for my small planes (.46 to .90) and the 1/4 scale and up will be floor mounted. I posted a drawing a few post back on how I constructed them. ( see picture) The brackets are inexpensive and plenty strong because they move with every bump in the road, something like a tree swaying with the wind. They also look good and can easily be removed when and if I use the trailer for something else -- like moving. The reason I mentioned this is because I'm moving in three weeks about 40 miles north of Tampa. Its getting too crowed for my liking in this area and this from a guy born and raised in NYC.

Again, great job on your trailer! Russ

Just one quick question....Where's the fire extinguisher? Even on the finished trailers, I see none. (Including in the many "workshop" pics I'v seen.)

I am certainly not wishing bad luck on anyone, but a great deal of our materials and supplies will go up in a heartbeat, given the catalyst to do so. I don't mean to put a sour note in this very interesting thread, but as an ex volunteer fire dept. person, I have seen my share of destruction that COULD have been avoided, had only an extinguisher been close buy. I live in a rural area where our fire dept. (all volunteer) is 15 minutes away. Not bad, but a lot of damage can be done in that time with balsa, light ply, CA glues, etc.

Sorry, again...

You didn't look to close at the pictures of my trailer as there is a fire extinguisher as well as a first aid box right at the back door!
Can't be to safe.

I'll be using my unfinished trailer for something different than expected for a short period of time. I just bought a house about 40 miles north of Tampa and moving in two weeks. So the trailer will help out in this move. I'll move things that I will not trust the movers to transport for instance, my airplanes and helis plus some other fragile items. I just can't seem to find the time to finish the trailer for its intended purpose. Something always comes up---now this moving business.

The "disabled temporarily" spell check insert is getting to be a permanent feature. Come on guys--get with it.

I have a 12 x 6 x 6 also and I keep my planes (the ones that I fly that is) in there all the time. Once the season is over, I remove the batteries and that's it.

The heat won't hurt them or warp the wings? It gets preatty hot here in hotlanta Ga.. Also do you drain your batteries then recharge them (plane and tranmitter) or just charge to top off.
Thanks Radcat
