Speaking of nacells,.. what engines are you guys using in the C-130s, and is anyone think of or trying to figure out how to put turboprops in there?

I will be using the RCV90 in the nacelle for the Palmer 132" Herc. Fits like a dream. Only the carb sticks out a bit.

I may have missed something but I don't think they make a production Turboprop this small.

GSSMITH,

I believe you are correct, I haven't been able to get a good idea on the HTS system for JETCAT's heli's. I think it would be the closest fit if there is one. The vertical shaft must be removed and the power takeoff on the front shaft must be redirected inline with the engine. I know the current jetcat turboprop is like 15 inches long and it's a reverse intake system which routing the exhaust gases would be enough trouble all in itself. Palmer's plans call for MVVS .49s but I'm scared of the enginge out senerio. Anyway, no hardware bought yet, still amazed at the timber pile!!

I'm going with either RCV .60, MVVS .60 with rear exhaust, or electric if I can morgage the house and sell one of the grandkids.

I just don't think the .49's will be nearly enough power. An engine out with the bigger engines will be scary but you may be able to get it back to the runway. I plan to use Bill Wike's TwinSync for 4 engines (QuadSync?). This will help mitigate some engine out risk and provides a very good onboard glow driver.

You got that right. Here is a pic of Palmer's 132" Herc before i had to relocate to a new basement workshop which set my build schedule way back.

drdoom,

WHat size C-130 do you plan to use those nacelles on 87" or 132"? Those are looking very good.
