Status: offline 		Well its not a turbo beaver but were looking into one from unionville with 8 ft span to match this one in color and size But thought I would through it in for you guys to look at the floats all scratch built plane and floats with ys 120 for power at 18 pds flies very scale

Status: offline 		Baldeagle That is one sweet turbo beaver you got there I really like all the detail you put in it that will be my next project an 8 footer from unionville hobby seems to be a good one have heard alot about it. Here is a pic of my little beaver its scratch built also uses a telemaster wing with saito 56 at 8 pds.Really nice all around flyer

Status: offline 		After a long delay 3 years. I am building a set of floats for the Bever. I plan on using two water rudders , only one functional. The other will be fixed or springs used to keep it straught. Would there be a problem with that setup? Thanks Rich

Status: offline 		I don't run any water rudders on my T-Beaver.. I found that the tail is so big that I didn't need them.. In a stiff breeze there is a lit bit of a getting use to how it behaves, but I'm always able to bring it to my feet.. As far as the one rudder working and the other one fixed staight, I don't know about that plan... I would ( if you have a 6ch radio or greater) hook up both to steer and then put them both on a retract servo and pull them out when you want to take-off ( just like the real thing ).....

Status: offline 		I pretty much got the floats done. Carved from stryfoam on my band saw, Installed 1/4 ply plates for my two spreader bars.<1/8 bu3/4 aluminum> and plates fro the struts. Sheeted with 1/16 balsa and 1/8 ply top. If I did it again I would just order floats from fun plane floats.
I thought I had made the lower fin but couldn't find it so I made another one. It si made from 1/4 balsa and glued to a 1/4 ply assess hatch. Wich is where my battery is at. Needed tail weight. The tail wheel is held in place with a set screw so it is easly removed. You can see a slot in the fin for tail wheel music wire.

Status: offline 		The Beaver is pretty much done. Made the struts from 5/16 thick wall tubbing, The hold down cables from Hobby Lobby cable, The water rudder is from Tower 1/4 scale. rudder asm. The rudder is controlled from a servo mounted in the float. Hoppfully Monday or Tuesday we will get to see if it will float. Rich

Status: offline 		Rich, that is one gorgeous aircraft! I have the Unionville 6' Beaver on floats and the 6' Otter on wheels. I am going to build the big Turbo Beaver someday (maybe on amphibious floats so that I can fly from water and land). Well done!

Status: offline 		Well she got her feet wet today. Take off was long run with 1/2 flaps. Just about abboarted rocked the wings a little and she lifted off.The Saito just didn't seem to be putting out the power it should have. Had to add a bunch of up elev trim even with the flaps down. After a few circuts arround it started to behave a little better. The ailerons wern't real effective. was flying most of the time with rudder. Got ready to land , went out to set up , turned on final, put the flaps full down about 70 deg, she rollrd over and went in. Dammage is pretty light. Probbably a stall but I didn't think I was that slow. We did have wind that was comming over the clift that we couldn't feel at the lake edge. It was pretty bouncy if you got up to high. I will fix her up and go again.

Status: offline 		Well Baldeagle its been awhile but I now have my Turbo Beaver on the table so I will extend this column on the scale build up of the UNIONVILLE kit so here are some pics of the build so far!
It will also have floats and be able to go back to wheels!

Status: offline 		Hey Rich Im not using a wing tube will make the struts functional out of aluminum and will run steel bolts thru the wing ribs from inside the fuse and aluminum anti twist pins front and back of ribs as for the dash its made from 1/4 "balsa with poster board over it painted and used J-TEC guages with panel marker for outlining and then I cut out the glass dash panels from a picture I took from the computer from DHC-2 .com of the dash then used pins from a local store for the throttle levers and so on will put on more pics after I add more to the interior On the kit it had a firewall box that I removed and renenforsed the firewall so I could put in the pilots and dash panel hows your rebuild comming on yours rich after the accident! Heres a livery photo of what she will look like when finished

Status: offline 		Maddog mine is all back together and flown. I was lucky it wasn't hurt bad at all.
I sheeted the inside of the cabin with 1/64 ply when I origanlly built it. After cutting out for the doors ,theres not much support . I also have a hatch in th top of the cabin to get to the wing bolts. Keep up the good work. I will be waiting. I just about have my Val done. Rich[image][/image]
