I would think that if you use a .40 it will work fine, not as fast and be ideal as a second plane

I've just got one, also a sc52 four stroke as mu first four stroke too. Well, s it is semi scale, thought I'd have the sound too. Any idea what the running time is, looks like a tiny tank!!!!!

I read in the review at teh start of this thread that the hinges were pre-installed, ot on mine, the hinges were there but need to be glued, not as good a finish as the world models t34 mentor; but that is ÂŁ40 more!!!

As far as run time is concerned I have OS 70 4 banger and the timer is set for 9 minutes so I would probably get another minute out of her. Somebody at our club has 45 supertigre init and dose that thing move. Cheers the pope

Here you go Seagull PC-9 Manual or cut and paste this into your browser http://www.seagullmodels.com/Admin/cgi-bin/SanphamImage/12.pdf

I am putting this motor in mine TURNIGY 50-65C 320kv Outrunner (Eq: 4130/16)) when I finally receive my model.

These things are rare now in the US!

Byron,

Thanks for the link! This one has a magnum engine in it and I got a very good deal so I will be ecstatic if it flies well.

So here we go,

This is my Seagull PC-9 / Harvard II conversion

It has a Thundertiger 54S four stroke 3-bladed, a Sullivan Smoke system(planned install), Futaba Radio gear and the cockpit from a VMAR F-4, Robart Strut covers

This is designed to look like the replacement plane for the CAF Snowbirds

Just picked one of these sweet little babes up, LHS had one that a guy who has been building for 20 years built and never flew(no clue why, he traded it in on another plane). It had an OS .50 max , all Futaba S3004's, a volt checker, remote glow and Hitec 7 channel reciever(I switchd it for a Futaba 7 channel I had lying around). Paid 275 for the whole deal, never flown all brand new, been sitting in the shop for a year, haha gotta love it.Couldn't believe that nobody picked this beauty up. For those who have flown this plane, will this engine fly this plane well? I would assume it would, but who knows havent had a chance to take it up yet.Been flying for a while, had a trainer and a Piper cub, and a cessna from great planes. Since this is my first low wingm what should I expect as far as landing and taking off, or will I be in way over my head. Most posts say this flys well, Been practicing coming in hot on my other planes(about 3x hotter then I need to for a high wing), I should be ok right? I am extremly comfortable on my other planes and have had a lot of hours flying.I have also seen some posts on fuel tank position and people having to modify it to make the engine run well. Any tips, never completely mounted inverted yet. Have a pic its not to great but shes pretty(hope I uploaded right)!

Hi Castortroy,
I just built and flew mine this last week.
If you've flown a cub you shouldn't have a problem. The first flight is always the worst.
If you didn't build it, make sure you check the set up. Wing alignment, incidence, etc.. I had my PC-9 together in two days and I couldn't believe how good all the wing and fin alignments were. The entire kit just fell together.
I had to add 5 oz. of weight to the nose of mine and a aluminum spinner. I favor a touch of nose down on the balance.
I used a old O.S. 45 FSR that I rebuilt in the PC-9 ( I love these FSR's) and it's quick. With your 50 it's going to be fast.
All the throws that were recommended in the manual seem to be right on. I did increase the elevator throw about 25% after my initial roll test.
I've read that the plane comes in hot. I haven't had a problem but I'm not using a .50. It comes in like a trainer and just sucks to the ground when the trike gear touches.
I haven't had a problem with the stock tank location. I just pressurize it with the muffler. If you do have an issue I'd recommend a Perry pump instead of cutting the bulk head to lower the tank.
Add a remote glow. It's a lot safer on the inverted engine. I used a Hangar 9 remote. It has some length and the glow plug is behind the wing.
I'd also recommend a dual strut nose gear.
My only dislike is the covering. It likes to wrinkle no matter where it is. Other than that, it's an easy flier and a perfect second plane.

Let us know how you do.
Bob

Took my first flight 4 days ago! Man was it a doozy! Take off roll was nice, engine ran like a champ, never had a problem with it cutting out. It has a remote glow, but it wasnt working gonna have to trouble shoot it. Anyway, take off was great lept into the air and was waaaaaay off in trim. Was prolly the most nerve racking trim flight ever, I could barely keep her in the air, almost crashed 2-3 times! Finally got the trim set and it flys like a champ! That 50max is waaaaay more then I need! And as far as landings, she floats in great! I come in about 300 feet out from the end of the ruway and about 1/4 throttle. It seems to decrease alt. slowly at this speed and about the time I hit the end of the runway i need to throttle up a hair (im afraid she might stall havent tested stall speed yet). At this point a small flare is all I need and pow, shes on the ground. I have never had such a nice landing plane, she does come in hotter then my other planes but not to fast compared to a trainer.Took 3 more flights on her. Has anyone ever programmed Flaperons, was thinking of trying them but can figure it out. Have a futaba 7CAF and have the second servo plugged into the chanel 6. but cant seem to make them work. I will get one ail working and the other working only as a flap. Dont get it. Anyhoo jsut thought it would be nice to have. Looks like I am also picking up the new greatplanes cherokee, my LHS jsut got one in and shes a beaut! I have never seen a ARF with such good quality. Out of the box she has 0 wrinkles and wonders construction. I have a 46ax and all my servos from an old trainer, think I may use that. Ive been told she flys like a charm!

The plane doesn't tip stall on landing. It'll start to nose down which is nice. I knew a 50 would be fast. I think my 45 is perfect. With a 40 in it, you could relax. The 40 in it would make a nice second plane.
