Hi,

I have an Enya .30 engine and I'm looking for a plan to scratch-build a simple high wing trainer. I would like to have one with a semi-symmetrical wing and able to perform some basic aerobatic stunt. I have fly electric plane before but no experience on glow type. Currently I'm building a F4U corsair and would like to try out a high wing plane first before attempting on the scale one.
Anyone know any site where I can get some good trainer plans?

Thanks
HP Peh

Wizard contact Joe Bridi at www.bridiradiocontrol.com . I have one of his older designs called the "KRAFTY 25" it's just what your looking for, problem is the Kit is no longer listed on his web site so hopefully he can provide plans. My krafty is my "windy day" plane and it's hands down the best trainer type plane have ever flown. 2nd best would be the avistar with some mods but its .40 size. The krafty handles like a sport plane, it will do anything in the book just not as good/clean as a full blown aerobat, and at least it WILL do them. Fly’s as good upside down as right side up (leave out the dihedral) and still lands like a feather. Scratch building it would be very easy as it's mostly slab built balsa. If I ever stuff mine I’ll build another using more modern methods, like stick built tail feathers instead of slab, I would use light ply in the fuse and put lighting holes where needed as mine came out a bit heavier than it could be at 4lb 6oz. I really think 3lb 8oz would be very easy to achieve with some care during building using material other than thick balsa slabs. Mine is powered with an OS 40fp Plenty of power for this little plane but vertical is not unlimited due to weight, your enya 30 will haul it around nicely if built per plans, if you keep it light you’ll have a rocket trainer. You could also look at the phoenix models .25 high wing ARF at tower hobbies, it’s much like the Krafty design wise but I have never flown one or even seen one fly.

One of the simplest design is basically THE STICK, a boxy fuselage with a shoulder wing. You can make it with some dihedral and it pretty much has the characteristics of a trainer but more aerobatic for when you get better at the controls. Also, if you decide to use the semi-symetrical airfoil you would get the benefit of both worlds, trainer forgivenes at a wide variety of airspeeds. You could build the fuselage in a day if you plan it in advance.

For example:

... and search for "stik". There are a few.

I had trouble getting a full link to work.

Sorry, didnt mean to confuse anyone, I meant "Stick" as all the variations of Ugly Stick, Sweet Stick, Big Stick...etc.
That type of an airframe.
