Hey J-3 I will give you the 4c ryobi wt after I get it tuned up. It's running MUCH better after an hour of tinkering. There are some great recomendations for tuning the ryobi on this site. I E-Mailed DougT for information on what he had done to the Ryobi engine. He said to locktite all of the cylinder to crankcase bolts. I can see that this could be a problem because of the vibration. He also suggested using a lighter muffler. As far as modifications, I drilled out the main jet to .0160, as per Doug's findings. You can definately see the difference with the larger hole. Before the exhaust flames were a blue colour, now they are Orange- Yellow, but no smoke. I am planning on making a straight pipe for the exhaust, and will post the pictures when its done. Also, my engine was leaking like a 6-71 Detroit Diesel around the oil pan, and have ordered a new gasket from outdoor distributors. I understand that the engine that I am tinkering with is the generation II engine. Ryobi is producing a Generation III engine and from what I understand it is a better engine. I think the trimmer series is 1079r? I would try to get this one.
