Ever want to fly but it's too windy, wet, or dark outside? Here's an idea when your wife takes the SUV to the grocery store and you're itching to fly...

Check out the video:

Happy hovering!

Smooth torqin!

How is EPU-9 motor different than stock IPS-A? How much current do 3-cells draw? Do the cells look ok?

The EPU 9 has a higher gear ratio than the supplied setup but looks the same and has the same mounting arrangement. The EPU 9 has 8.6:1 ratio, which helps draw less amperage with a larger prop.
Check out the specs: http://www.toddsmodels.com/gwsmotordata.htm

Although the 10x4.7 prop and 3 cell Lipoly combination isn't listed, the motor does remain pretty cool during hovering. This is due to the heat sink and throttle management. The 340 Mah Kokams are fine as they are rated at 20C- they don't even seem to get warm.

I haven't done any static amp load test but will do so and report when available.

By the way, I believe the IPS A is the same as the EPU 6 (on the charts).

Great piloting skills...if it didnt sound like a blender it might be a little more entertaining....Do you also fly gas/nitro powered aircraft as well?

Thanks! Yes, I fly "wet" as well. Am currently putting a Hangar 9 Funtana together. I find small electrics very satisfying as I get the chance to fly them more often than gas ones.

Good job Mike! Crazy flyin in crazy places is what I live for. I've been to Redding lots of times for fun flys and such but I don't recognize the pilot. Would you be interested in comming down to Sacto or Stockton for a all electric (indoor) funfly? We are working on 2 right now. BENDER

Would the indoor venue be larger than my garage? I have a friend who is one of the local Electric pioneers. Currently we're searching for an indoor site in Redding. Will ask him about SAC.

Mike,

Awesome flying! Thanks for posting it.

Your EPU9 is equivalent to a DX-C.
