    Any of the .12's or .18's will work great. Make sure you get the engine with the appropriate output shaft.

    Status: offline     		Ok thanks its my b day in about 5 days so i think im gunna get that os 18 cv-r and the 2 speed and alluminum shocks and that will be about all the mods i could put on it. Are there anymore mods??

    Status: online     		Hey guys, anybody using an vertex 18 engine? Well I think i'm gonna go ahead and order this car, probably save the motor 15 size engine and put my fully broken
    vertex 18 in the car. It aint all that compare to os 18 which better for me because it isn't weak, or it isn't that strong as os. So hope I save money. Anybody know
    how these engine perform? Basically in redcat trucks, and cars. I wunder if I could go past 40 on this thing with this engine. I dunno if gear need to be change, but
    I will order spur gear when i order the kit.

    Status: online     		The ST-15's stock engine will achieve 40+mph using a tuned pipe, and 2 speed tranny. If the vertex .18 produces equal or more power, it will be over 40mph. I've never owned a Vertex engine so I can not comment on it.

    Status: offline     		well it depends on the top end of the engine and the pipe setup also the gearing with 2 speed it should go faster too

    Status: offline     		hey guys i bought a .18 hot bodies engine from stormer last year for about 48.00 i put in my st15 with the larger tooth clutch bell i also have the duratrax street tires 2.2 from tower and the better pipe this thing is a goof to drive from a dead stop i can go right into a hard power slide and hold it as long as i want its a little beast my 7 year old godson calls it the psycho donut car i have many cars from 1/18 electric to 1/8 on road rockets this thing is the most fun out of all of them

    Status: online     		Hmm well its a 18 engine with a tune pipe those stock plastic tune pipe. I just don't want to buy parts for the cars i have but I
    wanna try tower since its so cheap. Sometime I can work on. Wouldn't know if it will eat up the gears. But i wont have two speed.
    2 speed i have alot of problem and I am indeed gonna lock tight those motor mounts and spure gears. Would I be safe if I do
    what i wanna do or do I need to upgrade the to two speed? Thats more moving parts. Also tires, I have rustler tires with rim
    on my tsunami which I can switch. That would be upgaded in few weeks though. Those vertex motor probably put my tsunami
    around bit higher then 40. But it needs more work and I just wanna have a hand on towers car. Well let me know guys about those
    18 engines. I aint sure if it will ruin the gear box. I indeed will buy spur gears. LOL

    Status: online     		Lock tite the motor mounts with the proper mesh clearance.

    I've ran an O.S. .18TZ in mine and the spurs were fine. Your engine definitely does not make that kind of power so you should be fine. Proper gear mesh which does not change from engine mounts moving is a must or else they will strip. The TZ was seriously too much power. I currently have the Tower .15X in mine.

    If you want the same gear ratio as the 2nd gear in the two speed tranny you will need a 21 tooth clutch bell mated to the stock 45 tooth spur. This will allow you to stay with the stock tranny which will be more reliable. You can use the slipper which is eliminated in the 2 speed tranny. The 2 weak links on the 2 speed tranny is the 2nd gear clutch and first gears one way bearing.

    Status: offline     		Hello I have a st-15 i am trying to upgrade to a two speed. I have purchased the parts and it came with a new shaft for the spur gears. Do you need to use the supplied spur gear shaft and if so what kinda job is it splitting the rear differential to swap. Any help would be much appreciated !

    Status: online     		Yes you do, that's why it is supplied. It's a very easy installation, just take your time. Once the case is open installing the BB kit would be best.
