The down trim is after the washers.

I can't imaging having any other engine on this airplane except maybe a Seidel!

After I have completed the detailing, my plan is to take the airplane to a Golf Course and set it on the green with some trees or rolling hills way off in the background. I think the short grass will look really scale.

Again thanks for all of your kind words. I'm happy with how she is turning out. She is a good model not a great one. It’s good enough to avoid embracement at the local flying field. I wasn't going for museum scale, just a really nice model that I can fly on a regular basis. From my perspective I think that I have achieved this. I don't believe in Hangar Queens. I like the perspective of the people who maintain flying museums. Seeing a classic aircraft on the ground can't compare to seeing it in the air.

I plan to be at the Shelby Ohio event next week. I need to work my way up to something like the "Rally of The Giants".

Cybertom: Just saw your plane on the Nelson page....Congrats.

Ithink the shape of the Nelson wire is better than the Proctor

Tom, you are too humble. Your model plane is an awesome example of the modelers art and it being your first kit is mind boggling. I bet you could sell that model for $10K and then start another project that would be even more incredible. I look to see greater and greater things from you in the future.

That’s it, now you are going to make me choke under pressure! Thanks for the complement. The fact that you guys think so much of my plane is all I need in this life.

I am going to have a lot of fun this summer with the Stearman but I am already tossing around some ideas on the next project. As pleased as I am to be at this stage I really envy Argon and what he is doing right now. For me the satisfaction of working on such a cool project is hard to surpass.

Hold onto your shorts, I have been thinking seriously about the Team Genesis 1/3rd scale YMF5 WACO and that big RCS 5-Cylinder radial. The first biplane I flew in was a YMF5.

The Flair 1/4th scale Tiger Moth is in the running. It's a beautiful kit just like the Stearman.

The last thing I was thinking of was a BIG P-40 Warhawk. Chinese markings with tiger teeth and everything. If I built that, some of the warbird guys might actually start speaking to me.

I can tell you what I did but remember it was only because I already had them. Robart is supposed to have a clevis that is the right size and very scale.

I bought the Proctor 2C Turnbuckle w/Clevis. I had to open up the clevis end with my Dremel and one of the thicker abrasive wheels so it would fit over the Flair brackets. Proctor has nicer brackets if you want to change the way everything attaches, and you wont need to open up the ends because all of the Proctor stuff fits together.

On the flying wire side I pitched the eyehole end and used the Dremel again to cut a slot 1/8th into the brass body as far down as the tapered end goes. I then stuck the Nelson flying wire into the slot and silver soldered it.

Do you know of something better? I wasn't able to find anything better at the time but I haven't looked everywhere. A lot of guys at my club really liked them. Beyond the engine that was the second most popular question people had for me. If had extra they would have bought a roll on the spot.

I will be at the Shelby Ohio 1/4th scale event Saturday and flying at the Akron/Canton Air Show Sunday. A busy weekend!

    PS,
Some shots off my clubs website. If I could put a caption on the last one it would be "Honey, Get the Goo Gone!"
