Well, now it begins...the opening of the just arrived PT-17, pour over the manual, make a run to Kinkos (thanks for the idea p51-b) to make duplicates of the plans and then lay all the components out for inventory. I am looking forward to getting this underway, I just need to get a couple of projects off my workbench first. Hey Cybertom, let me know what the shipping will be on the DVD when you send it, those construction shots will be of great value.

    Thanks

Chas, let me know when you are going to get the copies made, maybe I can get you to make an extra set for me?

I think it's a whole 60 cents. I'm going to burn it to some Maxell DVD disks I have. I really like the Ritek better but I was given about 40 Memorex disks and I'm trying to use them up. I made the last batch with Ritek and nobody had any issues playing them.

Cybertom, I talked with Marc at Techopower yesterday, tried to convince him to build a 1/4 scale engine for the Stearman..he said maybe if the redesigned current engines sell well and make him a good cash flow. He did reiterate what you were told, the Technopower engines just don't have the total solution for this plane. He said the 9C will get you off the ground, but it'll be just doing that and that there will be no power reserve in that engine while flying--the just in case power--that is a safety net to power out of a situation.

He said if I could find a Seidel get it, or the Robart is a great choice with more power than Tim Taylor could use!

I may do a "kinda" scale and use the OS or Saito until I can find a Seidel st726 or 770, which may be a while.

Checkout my new motor mount design. It's a heck of a lot lighter than the last one. Only 3/4th lbs. I have to weigh the old one but I know it's a lot heavier than that:'

Outstanding! Great Pictures! Make sure you get someone to take some video of your first flight. Make sure you record the moments that matter. It's an outstanding accomplishment!

You know we would all love to be there with you on the flight line when you first take her up. Good luck Jonas, if you fly anything like you build your going to soar!

JB again that is a great looking plane! How does that laser 360 sound and perform? Like Cybertom said we look forward to the video and I'd like to hear the 360! Nice job on the radial engine! Also did you put Robart struts in for the main langing gear? I thought I saw a sissor on your gear.

    Hi again all Stearman friends!

Tanks for the possitive feedbacks. It feels very good.

Started this project whit a Laser 360 V-Twin, but when I have run it on my test bench for a few hours, I decided to go for a gaser insted. But I love the sound and performance of the Laser. But with a Zenoah 62 with a big 3 chambers silencer in stainles steel it runs very quiet and smoth. And it's very cleen, no oil under the airplane. The most imported for me was easy handling and reliability.

The scissor have I made by my self, I have milling them from a aluminium plate.
I also change all the ABS-plastic parts with new made in epoxy/glassfibre. Also made by my self.

2006 are Sweden organizer for world championchip in F4C.
So I gone try to take a place in Swedens national team.

To wings and round engine is real airplane

    Best regards
    Jonas

Seems quiet this week, everybody must be out flying!

Cybertom, I went back thru the fourm and did not find where you put your reasons for not using the Saito 325. Can you tell me again why you choose not to, besides getting a very cool 7 cyl Robart? I ask because it seems like it'll be a long time until Seidel delivers a product. I have emailed them a few times, even translated it into German, but no replies. Could be he is too busy building the engine I want!

Did you try going through Sputz? Contact Sputz and let’s get the terms for 2-Seidel 710 radial engines. If it's priced in the range I think it will be I'll get one with you.

I didn’t go with the Saito on the lack of scale appearance alone. It seems to be more sophisticated than the OS radial because it has an intake impeller as does the R780, but it delivers less horsepower. What's with that?

It's a fine engine, especially now since you can buy an aftermarket collector ring for it. I had to have a collector ring when I bought my engine. Here is a link to Keleo Creations. They make awesome exhaust collector rings. Look at this one which is mounted up front on a Flair PT-17 Stearman just like we talked about. The engine looks a lot more scale and less naked with the Keleo front exhaust collector ring:
