Last night I accidentally created a short on my battery, and it was on long enough to melt the connector. I will need to solder a new lead onto it so I have a few questions:
1) What is a good site that has step by step instructions on how to do this?
2) If my cycler shows the battery to be in good condition does that mean that I didn't damage it?
3) Would splicing a new wire onto the old wire work as well as just soldering a whole new lead onto the battery? I would like it to work as well as it did before.
Thanks!

Is this a receiver or transmitter pack or one for electric flight? Is the original wire soldered directly to the cell or to a solder tab?

It's a Futaba 4 cell RX pack. The wire seems to be soldered to a tab. Above that tab, running across the entire top of the pack is a white strip.
Thanks

Then unsolder from the tabs (both at the plus and minus) and resolder a new lead/connector.

Thanks for the response! Is there anything extra I should know about soldering leads to the tab before I do it? And how can I tell if I damaged my battery? The wires were shorted together long enough to melt away most of the connector( a few seconds ).
Thanks!

Cycle the pack a few times to see if you get near rated capacity.

My local hobby store only has servo leads with the extra white wire on it. Will these work just as well?
Thanks

No problem with the extra lead--either clip it off to avoid confusion, or leave it on and ignore it. It has no electrical effect until it's hooked up to something at both ends.

I bought the servo lead and soldered it onto the battery. One thing that I noticed was that the wires on the new lead are smaller than the ones on the old lead. Could this possibly cause a problem?
Thanks!
