Finally managed to buy a VCR that can view NTSC tapes. I watched the entire R/C Skydive USA video (2 hrs!), and just like C.R. Fowler says in the introduction, the image quality is not really all that good. But man, does it have some useful information, clearly explained! Experienced in RC flying, but a total beginner in RC skydiving, I purchased the RCM plan some time ago, but the info on this tape really gets me on the way!
Highly recommended!

Hello willem,

i see you come from holland/belgium.
where do you live.
we are very busy at the moment with parachuting and i also have a rc skydiveusa chute.
C.R. is a very friendly person and i had a good time watching his video.
along the way we made some adjustments on the jumper and i bought a new chute from tv products in belgium.
these are the best chutes you can get at the moment.

i jumped my chute in the dutch championship and i finished 3rd.....

so let me know where you jump........

I clicked on an ad for a lightweight digital camera specifically modified for r/c use. It can take movies, hopefully from r/c jumpers too!

That would be a new one!

Gary, the First one was designed and built by Walley Gitchal he contacted Bob and myself asking for help. So next time you go in the AMA Museum look for walleis chute with jumper. It's in there right hand side.

Hey all!

Wow, some great stuff going on here!

Im currently working on an RC parachuting project. Technically, it's actually more of an RC BASE jumping project, seeing as how I have no RC plane. There are however, plenty of tall objects around that should work fine....

I don't have much RC experience, which is what brings me here.

My grand vision is a system using a "real" 7-cell main canopy with a round reserve, capable of carrying a small digital camera safely to the ground (hence the reserve chute). For all this to happen I belive I need a radio system with 4 channels (like the Futaba 4YF: http://www.futaba-rc.com/radios/futj40.html ):

Channel/servo 1- pilot chute release
Channel/servo 2-reserve release
Channel/servo 3-left
Channel/servo 4-right

Now. the R124F receiver that comes with the above mentioned radio is described as a 4 channel, so I assumed it could control 4 servos. But then I found this this :

NOTE: A RX NiCd or battery box is NOT included because radio system
is designed for park flyers and thus power will be provided to the
RX via the BEC Electronic Speed Control (ESC) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKAJ0**&P=0

And looking closely at the reciever ( http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGFT1&P=0 ), it appears 3 connections are identical, and the 4th different.

Huh? Do I need a 4 channel reciever thats NOT designed for park flyers? Or just one with more channels? If someone can at least point me in the right direction, that would be great. Thanks for your patience....and happy jumping!

Ah-ha! Question answered! from the FAQ section on futaba's site:

"I have an 8 channel receiver but it only has 8 slots. How do I use 8 servos and plug in my receiver battery?

Use a Y-harness to plug the battery power lead and any servo lead into the receiver in any servo channel. Power can be applied in any of the slots in the receiver."

Do we think there's enough interest at rcgroups.com to request a thread in their new "r/c exotics" section?

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=358

Maybe grab the interest of a few more people, and consolidate messages on that side of the mega-boards.

I have posted out there several times and only gotten very little interest. Alot of people seem to show interest if they could buy one for $50.00. Anybody that has seen a skydiver in person understand the high cost, but talking about it doesn't do it justice. I hard for people to see the many hours of work involved into building chutes. I found the best way and fastest to get people into the skydiving hobby is to see them in person, and even fly one for themselves. It just seems to be a hard part of the hobby to promote.

Hello, I'm a beginning newbie at R/C skydiving and am currently building a 12 inch tall skydiver weighing about 11 oz. *fully operational* he has three servos. Two for arms, the third for reserve chute to avoid Dirt Diving.

I am seeking a custom made all white canopy from anyone interested in giving me a quote *cost* of making such a canopy that is as close to a real skydiving canopy *full size* for semi scale appearance. I don't mind spending around $200 dollars for this canopy, so if someone can give me an ideal range and their opinion of a canopy of their design that will work on a nearly 1 lb skydiver, I welcome all replies.
