I have a 600 mAh battery that I charged with a wall wart a little over a week ago. Yesterday I hooked it up to my Dymond ST to cycle it (discharge then charge). I left the setting on M0 so that the ST would choose what it thought as best. I also set the peak at 750. When it discharged, it stopped at 580 (what are the units for this? mAh doesn't seem to apply since it is a rating). When it charged, it only came up to 480 and then stopped. This didn't make sense to me since the battery should obviously have at least 580 mAh in it since it just discharged from that.

It did charge at a higher rate than it discharged and maybe this is it. If this is the case, do I ever want to quick charge it if it doesn't come anywhere close to the battery's peak. My other thought was that the peak detection was too sensitive. Should I change that?

Thanks,

Herb

I do not use the auto settings, I just program the memory locations M1-M9 for what the battery is.

Charge the battery on the wall wart for 15 hours and then cycle with the Turbo using a memory location and see what you get.

Herb, Give yourself a break. I know you are smarter than the charger.

I found the M0 mode to be real squirrley and somewhat unpredictable.

Just set up one of the other programs for the rates you want. I think both you and the battery will be much happier.

A good set up for the 600 mAh is C=600, TC=50 D=100 (gets you closer to what the manufacturer uses to rate them).

Also to your question "what are the units for this?" they are mAh for capacity and mA for Charge and Discharge rates.

There is the possibility, you got more mah from the battery after the wall charger because you had some amount of overcharge and the pack was fully "saturated". If your peak detection trips out at less than 500mah consistently after you play with your settings, ditch that pack.
