Tim,
Thanks for the clarification. Overtemp shutdown makes good sense to me. Ditto on JetCat Turbine heli development. FWIW, I fly a P-120 as my second turbine. I can attest to its reliability, Bob's willingness to help. So far it's been bulletproof!

How far away are we from a scale MD 500 notar? No tail rotor......uses jet exhaust. Cool!

Wayne,
I don't believe it's jet exhaust. The NoTAR uses a variable pitch ducted fan to pressurize the tailboom and provide relatively constant air pressure (I think it's something below 1 psi) to a rotating thruster at the ass end of the boom. That and the Coanda effect provide yaw control in hover mode. During forward/backward flight the downward slipstream (Coanda) effect over the boom diminishes and the vertical tails assist with the yaw control.

The turbine model units can work if you can transfer the tail rotor output up high in the mechanics to attach to the ducted fan and gear it appropriately.

I'm sure there's a bunch of info out there regarding NoTARs you can search for if you want all the details.

I have a JetCat HP-5 for sale. I was going to post it on eBay, but I thought that I would give this a try.
It is in mint condition with less that 2 gallons of fuel through it.
IT is currently configured as a pod-and-boom with xcell hardware. Comes with the Vario landing gear and a Tam Jets exhaust.
Never had a hard landing. Was hoping to get $3K. Email me at beardp@bayarea.net if interested.
