Permagrit sanding tools. I use them for EVERYTHING and they last FOREVER!

Also: bandsaw, drill press, Ca glues.

All of these tools have increased my building speed tremendously.

After years of holding razor blades in my fingers to make balsa cuts that had to be sanded to square the ends of the wood off.. a wallpaper knife that holds the blade straight and makes perfect cuts. Under two bucks.

Rubber "sanding blocks" sold by automotive paint stores. Allows sanding of curved parts witout dishing the surface. A couple of bucks too.

The Harry Higley's drilling and tapping guide. Works great with a dremel or power drill to make sure holes are aligned correctly. It works in places where a drill press just won't do. Works especially well to drill wing hold down holes and to align control horn holes on tapered surfaces. Also Higley's wire benders. Great for making z-bends and landing gear.

Although not a tool, socket head cap screws. Replace every slot head screw or bolt and use an Allen wrench. These have saved more punctures in covering and paint jobs than I care to think about.

GP Slot Machine is the best thing sinced the sliced bread cutter.

Found a miniature plane at Ace Hdwe for $5.99. Solid resharpenable blade and easy adjust. Makes shaping leading edges a snap. GP power plane and hinge slotter. 6" disc and 4" belt sander combo from Sears. Scroll saw, also Sears. Drill press from Harbor Freight and Tools. Fingernail emery boards from any drug store. Come in various grits and two widths a handy dandy sandpaper substitute for narrow spaces. Sanding bar from GP with rolled sticky back paper, various grits.

dead center hole locater

Took an old antenna that had a broke tip and JB welded a small strong magnet to the end of it works awesome for picking stuff up, I found basically the same thing in a dollar store and bought two, awfully useful for dropped small metal objects.

Speaker magnets have a couple of them great for Tpins finding dropped small metal objects out of the balsa dust.

Hobbico Srewdriver philips/flats/allens magnetic, with jewler style spinner handles

Dremel

The Knack made by Husky a carpenters knife cartridge loaded with like 20 blades

Those aluminum Sanding bars w/ the stick sandpaper rolls

chinese soup pint and quart containers great for epoxy and storage. Flexible epoxy hardens and you can just pop it out, something to do with risidual Wonton grease too I think.

Syringes from the farm. Horse syringes huge gage needles, hit the vet up for them, its one of the rare perks to owning 20 horses. They are awesome for injecting glue into joints (even through covering), and controlled epoxy application. I'm talking about 100cc jobs with needles 1/16"+ THICK!!!

Wife's manicure kit

Wife's various singer scissors

Stanley Drill Bit set with the hex head back, I forget what they are called but they will fit in a driver or driver extension, and you don't have to change the chuck size on the drill hardly at all.

My new, Proxxon drill press that I just got the other day. Drilling motor mounts and control horn mounting holes is fun now!

-Knife sharpener, kind that clamps back of blade and has slots to place metal rod from stone in for right angle. I hone up and reuse dulled exacto's with this.

-Flat plywood board with various blocks I hot glue on it. Use it for making fixtures for getting wings and tail feathers aligned for gluing.

-digital vernier..great for measuring part just right, metric conversions and hole centers.

-Emergency jump starter battery. Provides clean 12v power for chargers, electric beer cooler, and radio. Air compressor, light, lighter socket and jump start capabilities makes this my favorite.

- Small air purefyer near bench for sucking away and dispersing fumes from soldering, gluing ect..

I use a piece of foam the most to set things on and to raise planes above the workbench so it doesn't get damaged. I stick knifes and knife blades in the foam too.

Wow! This thing has really taken off. One of my favorite tools is a fine tooth flat file that I use to smooth ca glue joints. Its great for removing excess glue without damaging the balsa.
