Hey all.
I just joined. And I have a question on the larger scale models.
I need a Buggy or a truck(stadium or monster).
What are the most durable at a modest price.
I have around $725(total) to spend.
My son and I have a Tmaxx with a .26 conv. kit.
I love the sport just hate to spend all that cash on nitro and glow plugs.
We ran through two sleeve kits and exploded a rod this year alone. Now we wait for the new $245.00 motor to get here.
At least with the zonoah, I don't think we could ever kill it in one season.
I need prices, brands, and links if you please.(I live in the USA.)
Thanks to all(happy holidays)

Well, I reccomend you troll EBAY. I just got my first 1/6, a Traxxas Monster Buggy. Only have one tank of gas through so far but I like it. I don't own any nitro stuff so I can't say about reliability issues there. Welcome aboard.

Just about everyone on here will agree that the FG Marder is your best choice. Take a look through the previous posts and you'll see what i'm saying.
Its cheap, fast, and very durable.

At that price, E-Bay is probably your best bet. If you want some links (about 50 different ones), I've set up a website on Yahoo at the following link:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tnbrcvideos

Most of the links have a specific scale size next to them if they only pertain to a specific scale. However, you must have a yahoo account and a profile with an R/C picture to be accepted. I set it up this way to keep out spammers and harvestors. In the past, I made several exceptions but those accepted were not posting messages or uploading pictures/videos. Consequently, those members were deleted and "proposed" new applicants, denied membership without notification. To me "share" means "share" and "active" means "active" whether it is simply a photo, information, or whatever. There is also a sister site set up with additional space for videos.

O.K Thanks for the info!
Looks like The FG Marder is what we want.

Does any one have any major issue's with this kit????
What parts would we break?? (mild jumps are a must!)
Also what about hop up stuff?

Sure there will be motor stuff thanks to the goped's.
We want a monstertruck body, some big wheels and tire's. A hot tuned pipe.
What about gearing? are there different ratio's available?

Thanks again for all replies(HAPPY HOLIDAYS)

Take at look at Krikke racing's website. They are in holland but have great customer support. This is the place i bought my Marder and have been happy every since. http://www.netshop.nl/shop/rc/ I'm not sure what they are asking for a Marder now but when i bought mine even with shipping from holland to the US they still had the best prices.

There are a ton of aftermarket parts that are made specifically for the Marder, but you can also look on ebay and davesmotors.com for engine parts because its basically a goped (G230RC Zenoah) engine. There are different gear ratios available, and somebody does sell a monster truck tire set for it too. FG is supposedly coming out with a Monster beetle monster truck kit for the Marder some time in the future but i've been waiting almost a year for it and it still isn't released.

I've beaten the hell out of my car and haven't broken anything yet. The body is pretty beat, and i broke a steering servo because i cheaped out on a plastic geared one but other than that it has held up perfectly.

When ordering your Marder DEFINATELY get a K&N air filter at the same time. The stock zenoah air filter really doesnt filter the air much at all.

Have fun and post some pics of your new car when you get it.
Happy holidays!
Mike

It's Marder, not marauder.
Krikke is a good place to look and you can look around at everyones cars on marder.net

HI there,
Just wondering how you happened to change your engine of your T-max, I have a stock 2.5 and I just broke the connecting and piston just today. I love the truck but hate tuning the engine. What is your engine right now?
Hope you have luck on your next BIG truck!!
More power

Hey,
I used an XTM racing .21 conversion kit. The kit has everything you need except the motor.
We are running a Ofna .26 picco rear exhaust. 2.7 hp @37,000 rpm. It really flies. Can't keep the front wheels on the ground on take off. The only problem is the tranny can't take it. I need to install the metal gears next.

The 1/5 or 1/6 scale trucks are a dead end right know. The only kit available is the MCD monster truck. Way to much cash for a beginner to afford. I think I'll buy a FG (onroad) and make my own wheel adapters. Mount up some Imex Jumbo maxx wheels and tires. I only need a body. I don't like the tuned pipe on the mardar and the fact that the motor is stood up. I like the on road cars. The motor is set lower and give it a more balanced chassis. The onroad has a longer wheel base too. I only need to loosen up the suspension and get some more shock travel. I may end up making my own chassis. I wish it was 4x4($x$)!

Hey if the manufactures's can't sell what you want. <MAKE YOUR OWN>
In the USA. We like monster trucks. Look at the 1/10 and 1/8 scale market.
Look's like the large scale guy are just getting to off road. On road is not my cup of tea!!
Hope this has helped.( with the T-Maxx anyway.)
later!
