Any person out there with TF P39 experience? Building/flying or otherwise? Thank you.

Hello, I have the TF P-39 Gold Ed., I have built and am still Flying, at least as of this date, Knock on wood, the kit build's ok, alot of sheeting, sanding, as far as flying, pretty forgiving warbird , it will still tipstall though, alot more forgiving than the P-40,...................Paul

Would you mind going a little deeper into detail on the merits of this plane?

I'm interested in your experiences building it, what you thought of it, and if you would reccomend it to a fairly new builder with only a kit or two behind him.

Thanks,

-Auger

I built mine with flaps and retracts (Robart's) and had an OS .61FX up front.

Flew great, but didn't exhibit any tip stalling, in fact, just the opposite - very hard to stall!

Building was typical of GE kits, but the sheeting in the front of the canopy was a challenge - and the instructions didn't help much either (on the sheeting issue).

Flaps were powerful and made landings a breeze. Too bad the muffler stuck out so far, ruining the graceful lines of the fuse. That's life I guess...

Would I do another one - YEP!

Jerry
