First get a high torque steering servo and use the stocker on the throttle/brake and use the stock throttle servo for the reverse module If your putting one in.(Not a hop-up, but a great luxury.)
Next I would go with a good air cleaner.(The stock one is somewhat restrictive.)
Then add a good tuned pipe and your in buisness!

I wouldn't add any of the alluminum stuff untill you break the stock stuff, you'll be suprised at just how tough it is.

I paid $50 here in Canada, so that's around $38 USD.

you drop in an additional 2 spider gears in each dif, and drop in OFNA cross rods instead of the standard ones. Then you fill it with silicon 1/2 way or so instead of grease.

You can find step by step info at www.savage-central.com

Motor Saver air filter
4 gear spider mod
Stronger dteering servo
Lighter tire/rim combo will drastically improve acceleration. The truck will "wind up" twice as fast with lighter wheels.
Aftermarket tuned pipe
5 cell hump pack
Failsafe
I would go with the air filter first as it is cheapest($16) and one of the more productive improvements.
