Status: offline 		I have a husky 357 saw motor and a bunch of thin mahogany plywood. I have built racing two strokes for some time now. Winter is settling in and I am bored. In the spring I will have access to frontage on a calm wide river. I want to be able to run a boat there at about 6 in the morning at 100mph. Is this possible and if so, plans or suggestions? I assume it will have to be a hydro, but if there are any offshore hull types that will do the job I will accept those suggestions.

Status: offline 		Here's a photo of an outrigger.

These are usually the fastest boats on smooth water and are an excellent choice when shooting for Straight AWay speeds.

Don't be fooled... these boats will turn on a dime.

Your project sounds fun.

Status: offline 		i wouldnt say youd get 100 mph outta that engine, youll need more than 15k rpm to get that kinda speed but i could be mistaken.. with the right prop anything is possible.. but im leaning towards it not workin out that way.. riggers are picky, and from what i understand, that motor isnt exactly small (dimentions wise) so the rigger would have to be large.. Contact Larry Broman (AKA FASTRATFINK) at Fast Rat Porting Service He may or maynot have a rigger that will fit that engine... I have one of his riggers and its a pretty big boy and rides on a pad of air .. it flys more than runs Look him up, you wont be dissapointed.

Just curious how you came up with the 15,000 R's for a Husky motor while under load ? Most I ever got outta one was around 11.5 and that was done with a LOT of modifications ... ( 48 CC chainsaw motor ) ( have also done Shindaiwa's , Tanaka's , Homie's , Ryobi's, McCullough's , and an old Zenoah weedie .. )
But ... if you DO get that kind of R's .... then what kind of HP does that put out ? This is where the size of the prop would come in ( diameter I mean )
But , all in all , from what I have experienced and what I read .... I doubt very much that you'll get 100 mph outta her . ( also consider the weight of the motor too ... )
FASTRATFINK ( Larry . Super nice guy and also VERY informative and helpful ) also dabbles with chainsaw motors and he would be the one to get a TRUE estimate of speed from when trying to guess some figures for a rigger with a chainsaw powerplant .
