Broke the needles off both my Norvel's at the Havoc Over Hamilton on May 4. Ordered from LHS, but guess what? Back ordered from Sig, who probably can not get from Norvel.

Does anyone have a suggested substitute? All I have left are the black plastic fuel line nipple.

(The attached photo shows Eric B on the left and me on the right with our broken Predators. We were the only Predators there and took quite a beating from the T-Rex and rudder planes.)

Thanks.

Greg

Norvel needle replacement - 5/16/2002 9:13:33 AM

After a dirtnap deformed the plastic nipple on my Norvel 25, I tried to buy a replacement nipple from Mr. Stevens at Norvel. He informed me that they only sell complete needle valve assemblies and it would cost me $19.89 to get a new one. I basically told him to put his needle valves where the sun doesn't shine.

But after cooling off, I found out that the needle valve assembly from an old Enya .10 is a drop in replacement for the Norvel needle valve assembly, and the engine is running great again. Unfortunately, I have no idea how much an Enya needle valve assembly costs, but I'd be willing to bet that it's going to be a lot cheaper than the genuine Norvel needle valve assemblies.

Here's a photo of the Enya .10 needle valve assembly installed in the Norvel 25 carb.

Thanks Dave. I have learned that OS FP .25 or .40 will also work, as will the Tower Hobbies .40.
