Does anyone know of an online source for straight nitromethane? One that doesn't carry a hazardous shipping fee that is.

First of all, you are going to be lucky if ANYBODY is going to sell this stuff to someone that they do not know. If you can buy it, you are going to pay the HAZMAT fee, because UPS requires it and the USPS will not handle flammable substances. It costs too much to have a small amount(less than a drum) sent by common carrier. Your best bet is to find someone who runs a fuel dragster and buy a gallon or two from them. They will probably charge you around $30.00 per gallon. Many of the commercial model fuel makers will sell their fuel by the drum at a good savings, even with shipping. Mixing your own fuel will not save you any money when you consider the hassle of finding the chemicals,,mixing containers and storing all this stuff.
I made fuel for ten years when methanol was easy to get, not like it is now.

Regards, Duane

Morgan Fuel and Klotz will sell Nitro by the quart or gallon. Nitro is actually safer to ship than glow fuel, it is harder to ignite than methanol and gas. However it will require a hazmat fee.

I bought a quart on ebay once, I didn't have to pay a hazmat fee, but I should have legally.

The last Nitro I bought was from Klotz...$30.00 a gallon and that included the HazMat charge....$2.50 a gallon for methanol at the local race shop...and $8.00 a quart for Klotz oil...

Worked out to about $10.00 a gallon....
A 55 gallon drum of 15% nitro and 18% oil cost about the same, and most of the time they won't ship the drum to your house it has to be shipped to a business address...(requires a forklift and a truck to transport home... )

Most race shops are not handeling Nitro any more because most people (except the BIG racers) have gone to Nitrous systems..more forgiving to the motor...

It really depends on the area you are from...whether all the ingredents are avalable...if not, its mail order or a drive to somewhere that you can buy it from a speed shop...

2 cents worth=a sip of soda

I lived in the city that Morgan fuel's factory is based. Morgan would not sell Nitro direct ever since the OK City bombing (TM used nitro in his bomb recipe). Morgan will, however, sell all other ingredients direct.

S&W fuels sold me nitro at Lebanon swap meet 2 years ago and may be a source. Your best bet, however, is to find a speed shop or a raceway that carries the stuff.
