That's why the throttle stick is proportional; just take it easy on the throttle, only go full for take off and straight vertical.

I've never flown one, so I can't really say, ..

You might be better off building one of the 25 sized combat planes and increasing the span a few inches and add a couple inches of dihedral to tame the performance.

Are you flying with an instructor ? I would highly reccomend it if at all possible

Nope.. not a good trainer,
I don't think the GNAT would make a good trainer. It responds pretty quick and I think a new flyer would have his hands full. I've been flying the GNAT with an OS 15LA on it after a year of flying and it's taken me a bit of time to get use to it. Once use to it I learned more about flying in a few weeks than I did with my years flying time before.

StormGald,
Not sure what would be a good trainer SPAD. If you go to the SPAD site and look under ORIGINALS the classify the planes and I know several are classified Trainer. The only one I've seen flown is the SPADET LC40. One of your club members build two of these and they both looked like good flyers. He was a new guy too, he had help on a buddy box but it sure seem to work for him. I think he had a 40LA on one and thought it needed more power. The second had a 46FX which was plenty of power. Good Luck DickB
