here is a picof the pacific edge with a us 41 .It is well built and lite havn't finished it yet but it will be in a day or two,anyone flying this one?

Geistware -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 4:42:54 AM)

Is this and ARF or kit?

KenLambert -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 4:59:35 AM)

it is an arf from pacific aeromodels 82" they have three sizes

Swat Cop -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 5:07:12 AM)

What made you decide to put a US 41 on it? I have always thought this engine was better suited for a piper cub, warbird or non aerobatic type plane. I have never owned one but have always heard they were heavy on weight and light on power. Have you flown it yet I would be interested in a flight report. What is the quality of the ARF? It looks really nice. What is the weight with the US 41 on it? I was looking at getting one but went with the Dave Patrick Edge 540 instead. I am thrilled with my DP Edge.

KenLambert -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 6:36:20 AM)

the guy that it belongs to wanted to use the 41.I had one on a giant aeromaster it ran good and was very reliable.I haven't weighed it or anything like that yet.It has an adjustable engine box for balancing purpose.It is all laser cut wood han't found any flaws with it.

Swat Cop -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 6:41:36 AM)

I really like the idea of an adjustable engine box.

Geistware -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 3:13:30 PM)

Is there a web site for this model?

Got one with a Brison 2.4 on it and it's an awesome flying airplane. Reminds me a lot of the old Ace Extra 260 but the Pacaero Edge is about 2/3 the weight of the 260 so is much more responsive. Absolutely superb flying airplane and I was very impressed with the hardware that came with the kit. Ken, What did you think of the instruction manual?

Geistware, www.pacaeromodel.com

Geistware -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 4:07:45 PM)

Thanks, I will check it out.

What is the price on this bird. I show nothing but the manual on their site?

Chris

You will find the prices of all the models if you go to the Winner Hobbies section of the website. The PacAero models are very well made, covered with Ultrakote and fly very well when fitted with engines in the recommended range. No need to overpower these, keep em light, you'll be happier.

Only the two smaller ones appear on the Winner Hobbies section.

the part of the manule i used seemed to be fine lots of pics and yes the hardware was good for an arf except the hinges and those wing bolts .

garch 22 -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/15/2003 5:51:36 PM)

You're correct, there is no price listed for the new 85 inch edge yet. If you want a price try e-mailing his site : Info@winnerrc.com . The owner of Winner RC and designer of the Edges is a fellow named Johnson, good guy, very helpful and informative. May be a bit busy at this time of year, wears many hats, but is usually very responsive when I have called.

Swat Cop -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/16/2003 1:34:51 AM)

Price on the Pacific Aeromodels 27% Edge 540T 82" wingspan according to the Jan 2004 issue of RC Modeler (page 12 ad) is $439.99. That is about the same price as the Dave Patrick Edge 540 from Chiefaircraft.com but the PA Edge does not have airfoiled tail surfaces, less wing area (PA 1,139 sq.in. vs DP 1,210 sq.in.). Those were the reasons I chose the Dave Patrick Edge.

KenLambert -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/16/2003 3:50:03 AM)

who told you it is not airfoiled if you look at the pics you will see that it is and it is also a removable tail on two aluminum tubes very nice plane.
Also the ailirons and elevators are all counter balanced

Cap232tain -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/16/2003 10:32:14 AM)

I have a .60/100 Edge that is a great flyer, well built and as Joe said above their light, no need to overpower. Put a Magnum .91xls in mine more than enough power!

Geistware -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/16/2003 2:45:08 PM)

I think with these specifications, you will be better off with the WH Edge.

how bout both

Swat Cop -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/17/2003 4:17:27 AM)

I stand corrected, it looked like it had flat tail surfaces from the pics I had seen. I agree the WH Edge 540 has the best price and specs I am just not crazy about the covering scheme. I probably should have waited and tried to get the WH Edge in white but I love my DP Edge. What engine you putting in the WH Edge?

Swat Cop -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/17/2003 4:20:31 AM)

I am very jealous of your work shop.

KenLambert -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (12/17/2003 4:48:13 AM)

i used to have auto repair shop so now it is converted to rc shop it is 24'x42' it had 12' ceiling so know i have lots of up top storage

scottfl78 -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (7/2/2004 3:19:14 AM)

Is this thread dead? I am interested in this plane.. The little bit I have heard has been positive as with all of Pacific's planes..

rino -> RE: Pacific Edge 82" (2/26/2005 6:28:00 AM)

Which one flys better - does better 3D in your opinion? I'm looking into a gasser and want the best.

Thx,

Rino
