Yes you need one. I have then on all my nitro cars. If you drive out of range your car can take off WOT by itself. Also if radio batteries get week can save you then as well.

failsafe connects to your throttle servo and when your car goes out of range, batteries go dead or someone is running their car with the same frequency as yours, it applies the brakes on your car so it doesn't run away and crash. I would highly recommend getting one.

Get the Venom Failsafe http://www.venom-racing.com/

The brand is not as important as just having one.

I have a couple of the OFNA micro ones - then the OFNA older style (a bit bigger) on my 9.5 and the Dynamite fail safe on my TMaxx and my nitro TC3.

I have 3 of the little ones and 1 of the OFNA older bigger ones. No problems here.

Well a high performance air filter is a starter....Then a better clutch....then lighter graphite components.

You can change the gearing of the 2spd to get better acceleration and more top end. That is what I did.

I bought the RTR, changed to 2spd, changed the gears - added fail safe - aluminum drive cups - blue aluminum threaded shocks and different springs.
