How old is to old on fuel? I have some that is probably 6-8 years old. Will it run ok? Will it still lubricate? I was thinking of using it to break in a new OS46FX. Let me know what you all think! Thanks!

If it's been properly sealed fuel has an indefinite storage life. Just try it, if it works it works

Thanks guys! I appreciate it! Might as well use it for something as I probably won't fly with it. Was thinking that the nitro might have flashed off but that shouldn't really matter should it? Been in normal fuel jugs with the lid on.

I doubt it....

But breaking in an engine on a cooler fuel that is non-nitro is probably an advantage not a disadvantage.

Any fuel that is old I just add it to new fuel in small portions to use it up.About 10% old to 90% new fuel works ok, but if it's a sealed container in a cool, dry climate controlled area them it should be fine to use it straight. You should always break a egnine in on the % nitro you plan on using in the future. Running an ABC engine cool during break-in is not good since the cylinder and piston will not expand to the proper size and it will remove too much during break-in. Most break-in is done with 10% nitro and at least 18% oil content.

I dug out a case of fuel I had in storage for eons. Factory sealed jugs, and sealed again in
a box so it wasn't exposed to light.

If you didn't know the fuel was old...you'd never know. It works real well.

Nitro won't flash off even with the lid off. Nitro has a flash point of 98 degrees F, methanol I think is about 56 degrees. That is nitro doesn't evaporate very readily till it gets to 98 degrees.
