The original movie from 1951 was called "The Day The Earth Stood Still" starring Michael Rennie. I remember it well 'cuz it was the movie shown on the very first NBC "Saturday Night At The Movies" a long time ago. My neighborhood buddies and I all memorized the phrase 'cuz we figured we might need it someday. I forget exactly what it means but Patricia Neal had to walk right up to this giant shiny robot, take a deep breath and repeat it to his face exactly right the first time. It means something like "Hey, big robot guy! I know some stoopid soldier done shot & killed your master but he said for you to go get him and bring him back to life and oh yeah, don't blast this little planet all to hell with your disintegrater ray!" There's a fascinating website about the movie....can't find it now.

The install program is complaining about some system files being out of date on my XP Professional SYstem with Service Pack 2 and all updates as of about an hour ago. What system files is the install program contemplating overwriting, and is it checking dates or actual file revisions?

Thanks in advance!

It only installs the VB6 runtime and associated controls. These files are not included with operating system service packs. You probably have an application installed that used older versions of some VB6 files.

Here's a list of the included system files.
ASYCFILT.DLL - Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT(TM) and Windows 95(TM) Operating Systems Version 2.40.4275.1
OLEAUT32.DLL - Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT(TM) and Windows 95(TM) Operating Systems Version 2.40.4275.1
OLEPRO32.DLL - Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT(TM) and Windows 95(TM) Operating Systems Version 5.0.4275.1
COMCAT.DLL - Microsoft Component Category Manager Library Version 4.71.1460.1
COMDLG32.OCX - Microsoft CMDialog ActiveX Control DLL Version 6.00.88.77
mscomctl.ocx - Windows Common Controls ActiveX Control DLL Version 6.00.88.77
MSCOMCT2.OCX - Microsoft Common Controls 2 ActiveX Control DLL Version 6.0.88.4
msvbvm60.dll - Visual Basic Virtual Machine Version 6.0.92.37

Milton,

I understoood the reference, but I've never seen the movie. It's on my list of classic sci-fi movies to see, as is Metropolis.

No problem Stu.

Yeah, I almost forgot about Forbidden Planet. I think that it was one of Leslie Nielsons first films. It's hard to imagine him in anything other than a comedy now.

Dickeybird.

In the movie she tells the robot "Gort, Klatu nicto barradis" I think it's Latin for "Gort, Klatu says don't blast'em".

Bill S

Oh yeah, I have the movie on VHS in my movie collection.

Wasn't The Day The Earth Stood Still the movie where the aliens had a book entitled "How to Serve Man" and the zinger at the end was that it was a cook book?

Nope, that was an episode from the old TV series "The Twilight Zone."

What about making it shareware and asking for a fivver from those that feel honorable enough to send it? I haven't tried it yet but I KNOW that the modeling community will (should) kiss yer feet for this one!

Maybe after I add a few more features I'll ask for donations or make a free "light" version and pay "pro" version. Whatever, as it is now in it's current state it's free for the taking.

Yep....and everyone who visited their wonderful planet loved it so much they didn't want to return back to Earth.....then the code breaker team found out at the end of the story "How to Serve Man" was a cookbook ...just as some of the team members were boarding the alien space ship.

A "wunnerful" program. Now all the out of print designs can be easily built once again.

Thanks for sharing.
