Hey,.... Is this thing idiot-proof yet? Can I just press a button and have it do everything, then have it tell me how smart & computer savy I am? I'm REALLY bad with using stuff like this... Does it come with instructions and a pacifyer? ( I hate sucking My thumb when I get insecure, it gets all wrinkley & yucky ) Bob

There's a saying in the computing world that goes something like this: No software is so idiot proof that it can't be broken by the competent idiot. But, Tile-Print is pretty good and Bipe Flyer is quick to answer questions.

There are a lot of options, but if you just want to get a file onto paper it's pretty simple. Just open the file, click the ruler tool, draw a line to measure a part of the plan (ie the scale indicator, wingspan etc) then type the size. So, if it has a 40" wingpan, use the ruler to measure the wing, type 40 and click the print button. There is a help file which can be viewed by clicking on the help menu. If you get stuck, you can always send me an email or give me a phone call.

Bob, I hate to use this line but here goes:

If I can use it, anyone can!

As you can see, ( as I had mentioned to you before) Bipe Flyer will give you one on one personal help. You can't get that with Corel Draw or the CAD programs.

Bob, on a personal note, since when would you have a problem with Canadian beer? Heh!

Robert

Another question:

What is import and export?

I thought import was simply opening a file you got from somewhere else. And exporting was merely "save as" and then you tell it what file or folder to go to.

Help an ignorant soul out?

Robert

Opening and saving is done with files that are in the native format of the program while Importing and exporting means that the file will be converted into some other format when it is opened or saved. So with Tile Print a Jpeg, GIF, TIFF etc is opened because it can be saved again in the same format while a DXF, PDF, Turbocad file, Excel spreadsheet etc is imported because they are converted to a raster image and cannot be saved back to the original file type.

ummm,.. was that in English?! Lemme see... I THINK I get it, but you need to be more descriptive, like this:

Opening and saving is done with file-thingy's that are in the way you got em as a program while Importing and exporting means that the file will be changed into some other format-thingie when it is opened or saved. So with Tile Print a Jpeg, GIF, TIFF and other things you don't understand is opened because it can be saved again if you leave it the same format-thingie and don't screw it up, while a DXF, PDF, Turbocad file, Excel spreadsheet etc is imported because they are converted to a raster-thingie- image and cannot be saved back to the way they came. and if you keep trying, youll mess it up,..baaad BaaaAAaad!

LOL, that pretty much sums it up except you wont mess anything up. You'll just end up with a raster file-thingy copy of the original file.

Question concerning DXF files. When opened in Tile Print, the drawing outlines are fine but text and leader lines are sometimes distorted and misplaced. The flies were created in Acad 2000. Suspect that maybe a different font or something might improve things. Or is there a prefered DXF, i.e, R12, R14, etc. Any tips?
Thanks, Al

My computer crashed and I lost almost everything due to a cheap ram memory board. The tech that wiped the hard drive and re-installed windows saved some of my files including Tile Print, but it says "Buy Now or Buy Later". I'm sure I paid for this already. Is there anyway to check? I'd be glad to pay if I have not.

Al,

Try saving it in the different versions. The fonts don't always covert correctly. You can send me the file and I'll take a look at it if you like.
